Jade had made dinner, it was 5pm. Her daughter, Abby was sitting at the dinner table coloring, she had finished her dinner and wanted to color. Jade was sitting with her, talking to her, she soon picked up their plates and went off to the kitchen. She kinda spaced out as she washed the dishes, she was tired and taking care of a 5-year-old was very draining. Abby was a pretty good kid when she was calm, but whenever she got energy and mania, which was often, the day dragged on. Jade could understand why she acted like this, they shared brain chemistry, Abby was her kid. She got snapped out of it when Abby tugged at her shirt, Jade looked down and smiled softly. "What's up, kid?" She asked, turning the water off and drying her hands.
Abby held her arms up, holding a box up to her, it was a Lego set of a snowy place, animals and people were there to build too. "Mommy, build with me?" She asked, Jade took the box and looked at her. "Hmm, since you did eat your vegetables and you didn't have a tantrum, sure, we can build this." She watched as Abby smiled wide, hopping around excitedly, she could see Tori in this kid, she quickly got them out of the kitchen and over to the living room. "Alright, I'll turn on SpongeBob too." She said putting the box on the coffee table and taking the remote. Abby yelled happily and ran around, Jade looked at her. "Abigail, don't. It's almost bedtime, you need to relax." She spoke, quickly making Abby stop and sit down on the floor by the coffee table.
Jade smiled, turning on SpongeBob and setting the remote down. She sat with Abby and started to unbox and unwrap everything, Abby watched her, but then flicked her eyes up and watched the TV. Jade sat crisscrossed as she poured the bags out on the table, she opened the book and started to organize the Legos. "Abby, do you want to build the animals first?" She asked, looking up at her. Abby nodded, scooting closer, Jade set the animal Legos in front of Abby on the table and let her figure it out. Abby smiled wide and started to try and build them, but she was 5 and easily confused and distracted, so she ended up getting up and playing with her stuffed animals in front of the TV.
Jade looked over at her. "Abby, aren't you going to help?" She asked, Abby turned to her and shook her head. "No." She said blatantly and went back to playing. Jade stared at her, proud of her bluntness but also confused. "Then why did you ask me to build with you?" She asked, building the Legos. Abby shrugged, laying on the floor and throwing her stuffed rabbit, Mr. Yellow at the ceiling, she started laughing when he flew. Jade chuckled and kept building. "Don't accidentally throw him in the fireplace again, I do not want to deal with you screaming bloody murder and me having to get myself burnt." She warned, focused on what she was working on. Abby whined, thinking about last Winter when she did that, she didn't want to think about it and started to sniffle.
Jade set the Legos down and crawled over to her, laying with her on the floor. "Hey, I didn't mean to upset you, I just wanted to warn you." She said softly. Jade had a duplicate of a few of Abby's favorite toys, so if Mr. Yellow needed to be washed, she could just give the hidden away one to Abby when she washed one. Abby leaned into Jade, hugging her. She was sleepy and teary-eyed, she wanted to continue playing with her stuffed animals. Jade rubbed her back, holding her. She calmed her as she stared at the ceiling, listening to SpongeBob. "Want to start getting ready for bed?" She asked, Abby whined, letting go and running away as fast as possible. Jade laughed, sitting up. "I'll take that as a no." She said getting up and picking up after Abby. She put all the stuffed animals to the side and started to look for her kid.
As she walked down the hall, she sung, "Abigaillll, where are youuu?" She could hear Abby giggling, she smiled to herself and stood right in front of the blanket that was in the middle of the hall. "Oh, I wonder where Abby could be? She hides just so well." She said smiling, walking past and going to the staircase. "Is she upstairs?" She asked, Abby giggled. "No!" She yelled, Jade looked over. "Who was that?" She asked, walking back over. "Is there a ghost?" She said looking around. She listened to Abby giggle under the blanket, making herself laugh with her. Abigail peeked out, seeing Jade with her hands on her hips, looking around. She giggled and got up, running past Jade and back into the living room. Jade playfully gasped, chasing her.
Abby giggled as she ran, going to the couch and hiding under the pillows and blankets. Jade made her way over, she quickly wrapped the blanket around Abby and picked her up. "I caught you!" She said smiling, Abby giggled, squirming around. "Nooooo! Mommy, put me down!!" She giggled as Jade tickled her, Jade soon sat on the couch with Abby in her arms. She rubbed her back and sighed happily. "You are a strange one, sunshine." She said softly, Abby smiled, yawning. Jade could tell Abby was getting tired, she rubbed her back and waited, watching SpongeBob with her. When she knew that her daughter was asleep, she gently got up with her and made it upstairs and into Abby's room. She changed and got her situated in bed before kissing her forehead and tucking her favorite stuffed animal, Honey the hyena under her arm, she made sure a nightlight was on before leaving the room.
She made her way downstairs and sighed, rubbing her face. She was so sleepy but had to clean up. She sat down on the couch and grabbed the remote, turning it off. She yawned and blinked a few times, getting back up and moving the Lego's away from the edge and turning off the lights. She made sure all the doors and windows were closed and locked, she went upstairs and fell on her bed, not even bothering to change yet. She laid there for a few minutes before getting back up, she ran her hands through her hair before going and getting ready for bed. Once she was changed and situated in bed, she stared at a picture on her wall that was lit up by the moonlight. It was a picture of her and Tori together, smiling. Jade told Abby that she was someone she used to know, not bothering to tell her the truth.
