L replied by saying I should start working at the school library. This came about because I put my name down with them a few days ago to volunteer there in my free time. This made me smile :)
K replied by saying I should make my toy bird work again. A few years ago I was given a battery operated bird as a Xmas gift. I remember it being slightly annoying so I took the batteries out, but kept it on display. For the last few months K has been asking me to make it work again and I keep delaying. I guess she won’t give up on this one. At least her requests are simple; last time I asked this question she said I should jump on the trampoline more.
So if you have kids, it doesn’t matter their age, ask them the simple question ‘what could I start doing today that would make me a better parent?’ You might be surprised by their honesty, but it might also make you rethink what is important when being a parent.
