It has given me a special kind of satisfaction to bring tunes to Tumblr over the last few months, specifically material that is criminally underrated or unheard of. Speaking of criminally underrated and unheard of, there’s this band called Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun that I randomly heard on Pandora a few years back that happened to make a lasting impression. I’m not a big fan of pop music in general, and generally speaking I’ll need some kind of exceptional factor to keep me on the hook when listening to it. For me, the exceptional factors at play here are the lead singer’s expressive voice, the fact that a lot of their music is completely danceable, and how well the organic and electric instruments meld together to produce something that is both different and warm. Have you ever had a sandwich that is extra-delicious because of the meat, but also because of several other ingredients that compliment the flavor of the meat? That’s the kind of music they make! Comprised of two dudes and two ladies, the quality of their combined labor is pretty high-grade despite the fact that most have likely never heard of them. Their tunes are sexy, catchy and shoegazey, all while including hooks that make them approachable to even the most jaded listener. This is Single-Hearted from their 2011 album Wild Fire. I can claim without hesitancy that this group manages to combine more genre styles under a single roof than any other group I’ve previously recommended. So, smash play, give them a shot, and enjoy!
