Ooh!! I think you’re going to like Devon!! (Good choice by the way)

Devon has the image of a huge flirtatious dork. He’s charming, good-looking, and he uses that to his own advantage by asking his many friends and conquests for “favours” because he knows they won’t refuse him anything. On the flipside however he’s super afraid of commitment and responsibility and while he has a lot of friends he’s not close to any of them and he’s really lonely. Most of his charisma is a façade he creates for himself because he’s actually reaaaaally insecure and timid but he sees uncertainty and hesitation as flaws and he wants to hide them as much as possible so he can seem pristine and shit in other people’s eyes. He has no idea how to deal with emotional attachment and while the idea of a close friend or lover scares him he also kind of longs for it??? It’s a bit weird.

His story ties in really specifically with the previous generation’s ending (would that count as spoiling???) and long story short he lost his only parent in a drafting of Elementals literally sent to war by obligation, and ended up in the social service system to be adopted. Coincidentally around that time Sam and Ian are considering having a family (partly because they’re looking for a way to distract themselves from horrible horrible things, partly because Ian’s an adorable little angel who would do great as a parent and Sam’s not one to refuse him that), and the whole misfit image kind of resonates deep in Sam’s unwanted baby heart, and Devon is immediately adopted by them.

And while he gets along well with Ian and his new baby brother Garrett (another adopted kid, Moira’s son), his relationship with Sam is fairly strained because of Sam’s way of coping with bad things, which involves him being a distant asshole and leaving most of the children’s care to Ian while he skulks around town aimlessly. Because of that Devon doesn’t really know how to reach out to his dick dad and makes himself appear spoiled with his charismatic persona so that maybe he’ll be noticed and truly cared for like he deserves to be. Who knows it that will ever actually work.

11:Talk about the best dream you’ve ever had.

Usually I tend to remember my dreams pretty well the day after they happen, but when it comes to long-term memory I only remember the bad ones or the weird ones?? So I’ll talk about the best recent one.

Uh, I think I was playing some game on my 3DS, and some shitty guy from high school just calls me up, tells me he’s got something to show me and no one else, and I guess it didn’t sound fucking idiotic because I was at his parents’ place in a flash. He shows me this book written in some incomprehensible runic language and some pages where he scribbled in crayon over the writing like a goddamn toddler, and he tells me this is a magical book that links to multiple universes??? And he summons his horrible OC from back in high school to prove his point except it backfires on him and the OC kills him and somehow the book chooses me as its new owner and before I’m sealed inside it I somehow weaken the OC?? And then inside this different universe within the book I’m considered a prophet because the book chose me but their copy of the book is at the other end of the world and the OC has my world hostage and I’m joined by a flirtatious piece of trash who learns not to be sexist, a female bard from the countryside who doesn’t know how to sing, and like the undead ex-king of one country or another and??? I just hide behind my party all the time because I have no idea how to fight in a fantasy world but I'm still super meta somehow??? And I can’t remember the rest.
