gimme your thoughts on the reverse!/firestarters!Au where everyone noble is wicked and everyone wicked is noble.
oh i don’t have much thoughts to be honest!
first of all everyone’s kind of chef salad in my mind sure so more so than others, but still chef salads in general noble wicked dichotomy is fake etc, and if we’re talking about just everyone switching sides i kinda don’t have much interest in that i guess?
like i could picture specific scenarios where if just one or two person changed sides how would that changed with how they interacted with the rest and what would their motive be, but changing everyone on the other hand didn’t feel as much of a big change — because everyone with similar ideologies changed with them too i guess. so it’s more like the whole side’s supposed ideology changing. except when i try to think about this i feel the two sides weren’t really that different and they’d done a lot of similar things it’s really just names ok the side and who people affiliate themselves with and methods they used. because in the end, poison darts and fires were all just methods and sometimes people who used one type felt they’re more superior but they’d all done a lot of too similar stuffs. (canonically, firefighters started fire too and firestarter shot darts too and then people messed with fungi.) wasn’t there a quote where olaf said he always carried matches and his enemies always carried kindling? that was. 👀👀
i could, however, picture what might caused individuals to switch side in AUs where they’re the only one (or only few) to do so and speculate their motives etc. for example — firestarter!jacques feeling betrayed by vfd after he followed their orders to marry jerome, who he actually loved and treated more than just a mission, only to later find out vfd killed jerome. if vfd sent kit, or someone close to him for the mission and perhaps jacques concealed his feelings for jerome very well and everyone else thought jerome was just a mission to him, well — angst ensues.
