The Magic Towns of Guanajuato
If you are thinking of boarding a flight to Guanajuato to have a few days of relaxation in a classic city like this, we recommend you take the trip and know its wonderful Magical Towns, where the charm, history and culture come together to give us a perfect experience.
Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato
Our first stop is in the Magical Town of Dolores Hidalgo, cradle of the Independence of Mexico, famous not only for its history, but for its beautiful architecture and the warmth of its people. Here the first thing you have to do is visit the parish of Our Lady of Dolores, where is the iconic bell with which Miguel Hidalgo called the independence struggle. Don´t forget to walk around the Casa de Visitas, the Casa Hidalgo Museum, the craft ceramic workshops and, of course, the José Alfredo Jiménez Museum, dedicated to one of the greatest of Mexican music.
Mineral de Pozos
Established in the middle of the Guanajuatense semi-desert, it is one of the most enigmatic places in the state, its history is quite unique because for many years it prospered thanks to the mining industry, time after it was on the verge of becoming a ghost town after the decline of it. Fortunately, in recent years it has resurfaced and has become an important tourist destination, thanks to its desolate beauty worthy to be the setting for a film of the old west and its great historical and cultural wealth. Among its main attractions are the JardÃn Juárez, the parish of San Pedro Apostol, the chapel of San Antonio de Padua, the Rancho de Lavanda, the Cinco Señores mine and, of course, the iconic Santa BrÃgida mine, whose peculiar furnace is the symbol of the Magical Town.
Jalpa de Cánovas
Our third stop of Magical Towns is in the peaceful Jalpa de Cánovas, a Magical Town surrounded by huge fields of walnut trees, impressive dams, silent roads and dreamy landscapes. Its most famous attraction is the parish of the Lord of Mercy, a magnificent Gothic building that took almost 17 years to complete, nearby are the Main Square, the Municipal Market, the spectacular Jalpa Hacienda and the Luis Cabrera Museum.
Yuriria
Our fourth and final stop is the majestic Yuriria, a Magical Town that for its architecture will transport you to the Middle Ages since it was founded in 1540, its most important construction is the temple and ex-convent of San Pablo, built by Augustinian monks and that today it houses an interesting museum. You also have to visit the Temple of the Precious Blood of Christ, the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception and the Expiatory Temple of the Hospital, however the town is much more than architecture, because here is the legendary lagoon of Yuririapundaro, the first hydraulic work on the continent, with several islands that can be visited and spaces for ecotourism.
Don´t miss the opportunity to enjoy any of these Magical Towns that contain an enormous cultural and gastronomic richness in your next flight to Guanajuato, enjoy its tranquility and take a relaxing day away from the noise of the city.
