— closed starter for @simscloud, valentina sottosanti & donavon cohen. based off of this.
when valentina had moved away four years ago, she'd been convinced she'd never see don again. she knew if her father had his way, that would most certainly be the case, but part of her held out hope. she'd thrown herself into her studies instead, an attempt to distract herself from the other half of her heart that she felt she'd left back in new york. and then the morning sickness had started. val wasn't stupid, she'd been on birth control for as long as she could remember and figured that would have been enough every time she slept with don. he was the only man she'd ever considered sleeping with, anyways, so forgoing condoms was almost a no-brainer for her. clearly that decision came back to bite her in the ass.
she remembered it like it was yesterday — the achingly bright light of her bathroom in her apartment showing her those two little pink lines on the four pregnancy tests she took on a whim. there was no question in her mind who the father was, but the possibility of telling him felt completely out of the question despite how much it made her chest ache to think of doing that to him. she'd been under strict orders that she was to leave her life behind — an intentional separation between her and the dangerous lives that her father and brother led, and they were the only two that she spoke to regularly. she didn't even know if this was something that he'd even want, much less with her — both of their lives felt clearly defined by things out of her control, and the possibility of a life with a white picket fence and children never seemed to be a conversation that either of them seemed keen on having.
she was going to keep the baby — there was no question about that. neither dante or her father were particularly pleased when she broke the news to them about her pregnancy, but she very intentionally left out the fact that donavon was the child's father. maybe it was an act of self-preservation or a way to shield him from their wrath, but either way, she wasn't going to let them know. their baby — her baby — was born nine months later, a little girl that val had decided to name francesca after her own mother. it was hard, juggling the responsibilities of her studies while also being a mother and having to handle that on her own, but she managed to make it work. francesca was three-and-a-half, now, and val had no plans to move back to new york city. the coast had become their home, her and her daughter, and dante had learned a long time ago that trying to convince her to move back wouldn't do a damn thing. maybe she was running away from her past — or the possibility of running into donavon.
as it was, she'd started to make this place their home, and it felt more and more like it on mornings like this, with francesca balanced on her hip as she made breakfast. one of her old vinyls was playing in the background, a soft noise that mingled with the sound of coffee brewing. before she could get too far, the doorbell rang. it was a sound that made her hesitate, but she knew she couldn't leave whoever it was on the other side of the door for very long. with almost cautious steps, she made her way to the front door, unlocking the deadbolt and slowly cracking the door open, barely peeking through, shielding her daughter from sight.
“ hello? can i — ” she started, and then froze as she made eye contact with donavon, eyes widening as recognition crossed over her face. it felt as if her heart had dropped right into her stomach, hands going clammy. her next words barely came out as a whisper, opening the door wider, francesca suddenly coming into donavon's view. “ don? what — what are you doing here? i — i thought — ”
“ are you my dad? ” francesca cut off valentina's rambling with a question that made her whole body feel cold, and she knew she had to have looked like a deer in headlights — her non-answer being an answer enough.
Hey everyone!
I'm currently on a cc creating break and I found a new website on which you can also share and download stuff people upload on there. I'm just not sure how one can create an account on there though?
The page I was talking about is simscloud.
Maybe one of my followers on here knows that ❤️
