i base a lot of my tabbies on real life patterns and colors! of course i put a little fantasy twist on them, but i would recommend searching pictures for inspiration and try to make the stripes coexist well with the rest of the body, and let them just flow around!

and feel free to mess around with the colors and pattern a bit, it doesnt necessarily have to be ”genetically accurate” (thats a lie the fandom tells you)

you can also design the stripes around the character’s personality. i like to use my tigerstar clones as examples. 

tigerclaw’s stripes are bold and sharp, big boy tiger stripes. the way i contrasted this tigerheart was by making his not only his colors lighter but his stripes more swirly, but still sharp
