Heathen Chemistry (2002) by Oasis
“The band had a great deal of enthusiasm for the idea of spending a week in Paris ‘on the hoof’, shooting what would be their next album cover. That enthusiasm however, didn’t entirely manifest once we’d arrived. It was February, not the best month weather-wise to spend a week outdoors. After checking in to our hotel, Liam commented that there was a very ‘dark vibe’ in the air and nobody disagreed. We were then told the hotel had been commandeered by the Gestapo during the war. The mood didn’t lift that whole week, with Noel and Liam not on great speaking terms. But my pal, the photographer Andrew Macpherson, flew in and took some great photos. The album image came about almost by accident as we waited for the Métro.”
