I don't know when I became OperaFanToMet (my nick means "The Phantom of the Opera" in Norwegian), but I'll take it...

There aren't a whole lot of non-stage photos of David Shannon as the Phantom. He was beautifully photographed by Catherine Ashmore, but he played the role for one short year and not a lot of backstage photos surfaced. Partly because it was in the infant years of social media, partly because they were still a bit reluctant to share backstage stuff in 2009.

So what I have is him and Gina Beck goofing around:

favorite Phantom: Ramin Karimloo. self-explanatory, i’ve posted about why i love him before. to give you the rundown, he incorporated autistic traits into his interpretation and it really resonated with teenage-just-learned-she’s-autistic me. also his voice is to die for. and his singing, and his acting. i would let him kill me if given the chance. 25th anniversary made me a phan, but i’ll always love his West End run the most. absolutely unhinged.

favorite Christine: tie between Sierra Boggess and Gina Beck. because how can you not love Sierra?! but also Gina is how i imagine Christine, esp when opposite Ramin. she’s just as loud and energetic and emotional as him, and isn’t afraid to hide it!

favorite Raoul: tie between Hadley Fraser and Simon Bailey. pretty much the same reasoning, Hadley is awesome and really brings out Raoul’s morally-grey side. Simon and Gina pair so well together because you really get the feeling that they don’t quite see eye to eye. he’s also loud and energetic as hell, to complement Ramin and Gina.
