Sorry for the late response - itās been great touching base with people again but Iām so behind on thingsā¦Ā š
warhol: what is something that you possess that youāll never give away/sell despite how much the cost?
This is a tough one. Ā I have to assume that nobodyās life is at risk etc. (I donāt put things ahead of people). Ā My wedding ring or engagement ring would be up there. Ā But honestly, the stuff I care about are a couple of dolls from my childhood that my mum repaired for years, some teddy bears, and some chibis. Ā Now, assuming nobody *wants* old dolls and bears⦠ Iād be very sad to have to sell or give away my great-grandmotherās wedding ring (made with gold from the original royal gold mine in Wales). Ā And the 200 year old mahogany table thatās been in our family a long time (one of our onlyĀ āheirloomsā - although we always used it when I was a kid).
harring: can you name (or describe) a favourite band, movie, and painting?
Band: Ā Simon & Garfunkel (I know, totally old-fashioned, but beautiful music)Movie: Ā Prince of Egypt or Anastasia (two favourites with great music)Painting: Ā Picassoās melting clocks (Persistence of Memory) - I have loved that one for as long as I can remember (note all the blues in it, too)

Thank you!! Maria is without a doubt the most gorgeous sim ever born in my game, dang. Her face ended up like a perfect mix of her parents.

I went to see if I could check the name of the dormie on her door (nope), and suddenly Gailās picture disappeared off the other door and she booked it off the lot! Must be practice from all her video games.

They sure did enjoy their representative art. Just not representing a lot of regular spines. :)

Hah! As it happens, I am eating blackberries RIGHT NOW! (They were "Buy 1 pint, get 1 free" at the grocery store, so we got...a lot :) ) And I gotta say, I don't really get the whole zombie thing, but that Newsflesh series sounds like an interesting premise... And yay for Kinsey 5s! :D
Oh, Iām jealous! Blackberries are usually a bit expensive here. Iāve tried growing them (my family already grows raspberries and strawberries in our backyard), but it didnāt work out very well.
Yeah, one of the reasons I like the series as much as I do is that itās less of a zombie story than a post-zombies political thriller; zombies arenāt the big news anymore. Also the fact that the world/characters are pretty genre-savvy to the traditional zombie stories (I have read too many zombie novels, if itās not clear).
Theyāre not, like, the most amazing literature ever, but it did say āfavoriteā series and not āobjectively bestā series. :)

I worship Octavia Butler's spirit. I can't even remember how many times I've reread the Lillith's Brood/ Xenogenesis trilogy
Oh, yes, Butler, without a doubt, was one of the genreās most talented authors ever. Xenogenesis is one of the very few books I have both a physical copy of and a copy on my Kindle. Iām overdue for a reread of it, as soon as I finish slogging through Kushielās Dart.
simblu replied to your photoset āHeās so proud of her. :ā)ā
Eew on the four years of same trouser wearing.. although I should talk.. my sims usually wear the same thing all the time. I excuse it by imagining they have multiples of their outfits. I myself will buy 4 or 5 of the same pants or shirt if it's really something I like.
Well, presumably theyāve been washed at some point. I do have CC washing machines! Three probably does have four pairs of identical trousers--he seems like that type of sim. :P Anyway, I shouldnāt talk either, I wear identical pairs of black jeans all week, every week.
dramallamadingdang replied to your photo āGirl, thatās exactly how I feel about this love affair of yours too.ā
Most of the mascots are really attractive under their ridiculous outfits, though. At least, mine seem to be. It's almost like a law or something.
Most of my default faces are Pookletās, so Iām sure he looks amazing under the llama head, it was just kind of hard to carry on Ireneās date when he had to stop and start cheering every five seconds. >_< Hopefully Ireneās still interested in him after graduating, because now I really do want to see whatās under that llama head.

*raises eyebrow* Are you sure you're not pregnant? Nah, I'm kidding. :) I'm actually not the type to get attached to my Sims, but if this is your longest-lived neighborhood, I can certainly understand sentimentality. :)
Hahaha! Not pregnant, no. Probably hormonal at the time, though. And a Family Sim at heart, regardless. ;D But yes, this is my longest-lived neighborhood by a long shot (although thatās not saying much), and Iām definitely the type to get way too attached to Sims. :D

āWhat's your job in real life?ā
If I were a pharmacist, I'd be terrified of filling the bottle with the wrong pills. That actually happened to my aunt once, a long time ago; if she'd taken the pills she was given they'd have killed her. Fortunately, it was a pill she'd been taking for years, so she knew they were the wrong ones when she opened the bottle, but...Yeah, I'd be the most obsessive pharmacist on earth, I think. :) And therefore slow. So yeah. "Stressful" would be the word...
This! Iām definitely on the slower side (compared to other pharmacists Iāve worked with) because of my intense fear of making a mistake. Not saying that other pharmacists donāt care, but Iām obsessive to the point where I will quadruple-check a prescription and re-read it to myself a dozen times (which must appear crazy to my co-workers/customers). When it comes to medications and patient safety, thereās no such thing as being too thorough.
But of course, there are the impossible corporate standards and arbitraryĀ āmetricsā that pharmacists must meet. Weāre timed on how quickly we fill the prescriptions, answer the phones, complete prescriber follow-up and patient adherence calls, etc. On one hand, I understand Iām working for a company and the company needs to stay in business. On the other hand, though, pharmacists stress over the metrics and push themselves nearly to the breaking point so as not to attract unwanted negative attention from their corporate supervisors. And that, unfortunately, forces many to compromise thoroughness in favor of getting everything done within these arbitrary time limits. There are loads of articles and studies that have shown the negative impact of these corporate standards on pharmacistsā performance.Ā Itās extremely sad that our profession has essentially been reduced toĀ āfast-food pharmacyā - churning out as many prescriptions in as little time as possible, and setting the unrealistic expectation for our patients that everything can be done ASAP. Of course I donāt want to keep people waiting forever for medications, but when I have to call the doctor for clarification, or the insurance because the medicine isnāt covered, or my vendor because I donāt have the med in stock (in between which I have to stop what Iām doing to answer questions for people at the consultation window, or mix an antibiotic for a child, and so on and so forth)... the time adds up. Not to mention I donāt get a lunch break so Iām trying to force myself to take a bite of a sandwich in between all of this. ;)Ā
Whew, that was quite a ramble. Can you tell I harbor quite a lot of bitterness about my job? ;) But yes, between these arbitrary corporate metrics, long shifts with no lunch breaks, working nights/weekends/holidays, and the inherent stress that comes with dealing with peopleās health and well-being, the job isĀ extremely stressful. Itās no surprise (at least in my company) that most pharmacists burn out and quit after the first few years. If I didnāt have loans to pay (and if I had the cojones and/or a plan B) Iād have quit a loooooong time ago. ;)
