I think that people who say stuff like that never really got attached to any of their Sims. I know that I very easily jumped from Sims 2 to Sims 3 on the day Sims 3 came out and I never looked back, because I wasn't especially attached to any of my Sims 2 Sims.
Sarah and Seth and Lilith and Jason - I have been writing stories for them since the game came out. For four years, these people have lived in my brain with me. Seth especially - soon the literary magazines will open for submissions and I will start shopping around a text-only short story I wrote with EmoTeen!Seth as the main character.
I can't give him up. He's part of me. He is my avatar on every site that lets you have an avatar for a reason.
And yeah, Sims 4 does look interesting and really cool, and I'm open to it, depending on cost and requirements, and one day I will get a new computer.
But I will always have Sims 3 installed on any of my future computers, and Seth and Sarah and Lilith and Jason will always be there. Always. I don't care how awesome future Sims games are - nothing can break the bond between me and these characters.
