We have made it guys! We are finally ready to start playing the Autumn rotation 🥳
But before we dive in, I have planned quite a few changes for how I do things so I will sum them up in this post.
From now on, each season will only last 3 days (instead of 6 up until now). Further than that, I will now play each family for only one day at a time. This will make it easier for me to keep track of things and avoid continuity issues. And for you, it means that we will cycle through all the families a lot quicker.
I'm also trying to be more reasonable with screenshots so that parts don't drag on for too long.
With each season lasting 3 days, a full in-game year is now 12 days, which perfectly aligns with a proper calendar. So instead of saying Autum Day 1 or Day 2, I can say September, October, etc. It adds a quite layer of realism.
And it solves some continuity issues: if you see a Sim doing something in the background, and then doing their round they are in a different place entirely, it means that it was just a different day during the same month!
I've also decided to tweak how I calculate ages. Previously, I had decided that a full rotation represented 7 years, but I've changed it to 6 years because it makes for more realistic ages. (Before teens would turn into adults at 21, but I didn't like the idea of having 20 year olds still in high school lol).
Y1: Infant (3 days) + toddler (9 days) - 0 to 6 years old
Y2: Child (12 days) - 6 to 12 years old
Y3: Teen (12 days) - 12 to 18 years old
Y4: Young adult (24 days/ 2 years) - 18 to 30
Y5-8: Adult (60 days/5 years) - 30 to 60
Y9-13: Elder (48 days max) - 60 to 84 max
My Sims always age up on the day that they were born (like a proper birthday), and I pick their zodiac sign based on that birthday.
And for the premades, I retroactively picked their birthdays based on their zodiac signs and calculated their birth year based on how old I wanted them to be.
The YA stages lasts for 2 years, but collegewill only be 12 days. But I'll explain my set up for college in a separate post.
And finally, I have added Grow to my game, which will make toddlers, kids and teens get a little bit taller each day 😁 So now, Sims' ages should be even more apparent.
I thought I couldn't use it because I've edited the default value in the height mod, but since I only touched the general multiplier, it doesn't seem to cause any problems.
That's about it for now! But if you have any questions regarding my gameplay, do not hesitate to ask 😊
