Misty is a New World Orioles. A very pretty bird which caused her sisters, modern pigeons, to become very jealous. They made sure to Taunt and bring Misty down when she started taking an interest in anything feminine or pretty. Even going so far as to make Misty bind her wings which caused them to stunt their growth, unknown to Misty because she didn’t know a lot at the time when they started to force her and didn’t find out until much later when she finally could pay for her own phone and phone bill.

She was furious and hated her sisters even more when they left on that cruise a few months before she left with Ash and Brock. She had sent a two weeks notice up to Lance since she no longer wants to be a gym leader with how her sisters treated her and all the other trainers that would try and challenge the gym.

It wasn’t until she met Ash and started on their journey together did she started to actually like her wings again more then tolerate them. She can’t fly with how tiny and weak they are b it that still doesn’t stop Ash from complimenting them and pointing it out that Misty can swim much faster then he, Brock, and her sisters. Misty never really thought about that and thanked Ash though he didn’t stop with the platonic compliments.

Brock was pretty much the same as Misty. He came from a line of Brown Thrashers and his wings actually grew to big for his body. Enough so that he had to physically take himself to the nearest hospital because his parents were off gallivanting across chasing their dreams still.

He ended up needing the furthest edge of his wings removed in surgery. Which in the end actually happened to be 1/3 of his wings in general. Now he had a healthy amount of wings on his back and that the weight won’t shatter his spine as he grows older. This surgery also caused Brock to be unable to fly but It isn’t until Ash pointed out that Brock can tuck his wings tighter behind his back and they don’t take up that much space like everyone’s else’s.

Brock does the same as Misty with the two weeks notice along with a extremely long google docs that documented every time his parents came home with a baby only to leave it with Brock the next following week. This has been happening since he was nine.

Brock ended up getting an email in two weeks later from Lance that his younger siblings will be fine and he’ll personally see to it that they won’t be taken in by CPS while Brock finally gets to go on the journey his missed out in his younger years along with Misty. Both their parents/sisters are being contacted and Lance assured the two that consequences will be slapped onto the irresponsible guardians.

Lance is a Scarlet Ibis, the only one in the family of Turkeys surprisingly, his cousin Clair is a Mountain Bluebird and she’s also the only one different on her side of the family as well. Lance grew up normal and healthy and soon became Champion of Johto and then Kanto’s Chmpion. There really ain’t a problem, until Team Rocket of course, until the Poké Dexers mass murder and then Ash coming right after ten years later.

He had adopted Yellow from a bad family at the age of 23-25, I haven’t picked a solid age yet, and her murder had left Lance frozen solid and hurting pretty badly. He had become even more recluses in his work and no longer really felt any kind of joy in being Champion any more because his job kept reminding him over an rn over again that Lance wasn’t there for the Poké Dexers, wasn’t there for his daughter, when they needed him most.

Lance obviously has a profile on Ash because this raven kid has fucking color shifting feathers and that’s very important to keep an eye on in case something happens that Lance needs to step into, and the fact that Giovanni might be targeting Ash like he did to his brothers and the other kids. It isn’t until the Hoenn incident when Lance see’s Ash’s wings change. Large wings that look way to big for the kids body with bright red, blue, green, and yellow coloring with his fluffy black baby feathers near the base of his shoulders and back.

He’s standing under Rayquaza, who had come down from space to stop his kids ducking bullshit and help Ash save earth, with his wings spread out and such a determined look on his face. Lance soon practically adopts the kid after once he gets the full-full lay out of what’s been happening for the past few years with Ash. Which means he finds out that Ash is the fated Chosen One and that brings out more of the big Papa Bird instincts Lance never knew he could feel towards another child.

Ritchie is a Crow though his wings are very, very similar to Ash in all regards with Ash’s wings being much darker then Ritchies dusty black.

His family wasn’t a good one. His mother is a drug and alcohol addict and his father is very loving but a complete doormat to his mother. So Ritchie is technically 9 1/2 when he meets Ash but fudged his birth date over so that he appears ten on the league documents. He just really needed to get away from his parents.

Tracey is also an Eagle, a Common Buzzard really if anyone wants to get picky, and his family life is okay at best.

His mom died when he was young and his dad was very loving but his two jobs has him very tired at the end of the day and when ever Tracey see’s him. Though that doesn’t stop his dad from always talking him that he loves Tracey and that he should never feel guilty for the fact that his dad needs two jobs to support them. So basically the opposite from that “your mother died and I blame you for her death” father tropes.

His wings are actually on the short side, a common occurrence in his family line since there’s a bunch of other types of birds mixed into the family line that no one knows what their wings will be when they start molting for the first time.

Delia is a American Tree Sparrow. She hates that both her sons have gotten Giovanni’s side of the family tree wings. A long line of Crows, Ravens, and other scavenger birds such as Pigeons and Vultures. She had wished and prayed to any God that they would also be some kind of Sparrow but her wishes came unanswered both times.

Her wings are healthy and strong, easily able to fly herself though she likes drifting close to the Earth crust then flying high like Red likes to do with Green and Blue all the time.

Blue is an Indigo Blunting. Her wings had actually started growing very prematurely in her moms womb and it caused her mom to almost die because none of the doctors or nurses noticed what was happening until the actual birth.

Even with the premature wing growth, Blues wings are the strongest and healthiest between her friends and other Poké Dexers. She likes to shield the younger ones with her wings when Red and Green start giving to much PDA in front of everyone. 

She also started her first molt very young and the color at birth had her dad naming her Blue when her mom was under extensive care at the hospital.

Yellow also got her name from her wings, she’s a Yellow Canary and same as Blue her wings had started growing while in her moms stomach. Unlike Blue her mom died and her dad blamed her for her death. It wasn’t until Lance came around and actually adopted Yellow did her wings began to flourish under the care.

Her wings are still weak but not nearly as much when she was being underfed constantly by her bastard father. Lance especially forced Yellow, who was very unwilling, to go through therapy and wing therapy to get that as strong as she can.

She can only fly for five minutes and then she’s done and her wings are aching for a whole week. Though she does like it when both she and Lance have time to sit down and preen each other’s wings and take a nap together. Before her murder she and Lance were basically actually like father an daughter and a lot of people couldn’t really tell she was adopted even with her sudden appearance in Lance’s life.

Silver is a Euphagus, a lower classification is a Brewer’s Blackbird, which he got from Arianna. The women his bastard father slept with and which was never really his mother. Giovanni toasted him to the side because he wasn’t really under the scavenger bird umbrella.

He had gotten unfair treatment all his life until Gold, Crystal, and the other main Poké Dexers dragged him out of his brooding hole and shoved him into a warm family. Soon Delia had taken over the mother’s spot in his brain and always preened a little when she introduced him as her son to anyone.

Gold is also in a long lineage of Eagles, he’s particular wings are Haast’s Eagles which is very rare in the world, his mom is a white tailed Eagle and his dad he doesn’t know because he abandoned Gold and his mom before Gold was born. 

He had the third strongest set of wings in the group and Blue always liked to taunt him over it in a friendly manner. Though Gold did really like helping Blue preen her large wings because the blue feathers were so very pretty up close.

Crystal is a Snowy Goose and boy does she talk as much as her bird honks. Her family life is good, a mom and a dad who love each other and who are also Snowy Goose’s, and she loves her found family in the Poké Dexers.

She thrives being the ‘older sister’ over Gold and Silver and looked up to both Green and Blue when she was younger.
