5 Questions with Silk Wolf _________________________ What motivates you? The absolute need to unleash creativity, live my dream and make a difference in the lives of others people. I also desire to share new sounds that connect with (and challenge) people. Staying motivated can be tricky sometimes but it is sustained by inspiration. Visual art and films that express both the pain and beauty of life is generally what inspires me. I'm drawn to things that express that duality and it motivates me to attempt the same through music. What's the best part of what you do? Getting to travel and meet so many types of amazing people through playing music. I love what I do for a living. Not too many people get to do exactly what they want on pretty much a daily basis. I'm literally living my dreams right now. What's one of the most inspiring things a listener of your music told you? I once had a girl tell me that the music I played uplifted her spirit and kept her going through some really dark times in her life. When someone tells you their life story and that your DJ sets helped them escape the pain for just a few hours a week... It has an impact. It's easy to forget that despite the party environment, our music really does impact people on a deeper level. I'll never forget that. Does a specific state of mind or mood generate your best work? Writing music and DJing are two vastly different experiences for me. Writing is much more introspective and reflective while DJing is very observatory and strategic. Because I play so many styles and always swing between light and uplifting to dark and dirty, I guess having a certain 'zen' balance is what renders my best work. What's next for yourself? I'm about to release a new mix coming up and I'm working on a lot of original music right now including an album. Otherwise I'm playing a slew of parties in Atlanta and will be touring the East Coast and Midwest later this year.
