                             the  lake  house  wasn’t  as  spacious  as  what  katherine  and  victoria  were  used  to .    where  they  once  had  more  than  five  bedrooms  to  choose  between ,     they  were  now  confined  to  two .  he’d  decorated  the  second  room  for  victoria  specifically ,    adorning  it  with  all  things  princesses  and  fairytales --    doing  whatever  he  could  to  preserve  her  innocence  and  wild  imagination  .  the   master  bedroom  was  for  katherine .   despite  her  arguing  and  complaining ,    he  would  continue  to  take  the  couch  while  she  took  the  bed .   and  she  would  continue  to  crawl  into  the  couch  with  him  in  the  middle  of  the  night ,   curling  up  on  top  of  him  and  spending  the  night  sleeping  comfortably  in   the  tiny  space .      he  didn’t  get  it .   he  didn’t  get  any  of  it ,    but  he’d  be  damned  if  he  fought  it .  stefan  would  never  complain  about  her  choosing  to  be  near  him  .    his  arms  wrapped  around  her  securely ,   a  sigh  falling  from  his  lips  as  she  moved  into  his  space  for  the  third  night  in  a  row  .     “  you’re  insane ,  ”     he  mumbled  with  closed  eyes .   once  he  opened  them ,   he  found  that  her  face  was  much  closer  to  his  than  he’d  anticipated  and  smirked  .    her  breath  on  his ,  her  body  pressed  against  his ,   her  gaze  soft  and  loving .   he  couldn’t  help  but  lean  in  to  close  the  space  between  them ,     kissing  her  deeply  --   like  she  was  his  again  to  kiss .   like  he  was  worth  kissing  someone  like  her .   he  wasn’t ,   he  had  no  illusion  that  he  was ,    but  it  just  felt  so  good  to  kiss  her  like  that  again  .   “  mm ,   sorry .  i...  i  love  you  and  i’m  sorry ,  ”   he  whispered ,   reaching  up  to  brush  her  hair  behind  her  ear  .             @silentfright            /             meme .

     “   mmm ,  no  .   c’mere ,  ”  he  pulled  himself   closer  to  her ,  arm  sliding  over  her  side  to  settle  against  her  abdomen  where  their  twins  were  likely  enjoying  every  second  of  tormenting  their  mother .   her  thing  lately ?   no  sleep .  whether  it  was  because  of  the  kicking ,  or  the  back  pain ,  or  the  hunger ,  or  nausea ,  or  headache  or  heat  –   katherine  wasn’t  getting  the  rest  that  she  needed  at  night  and  that  was  where  he  had  to  step  in .   “ you  just  need  to  unwind .   you’re  overwhelmed  and  exhausted  and  i’m  going  to  need  you  to  get  some  decent  rest  before  these  two  come  long  and  we’re  both  overwhelmed  and  exhausted .  ”  he  leaned  in  to  kiss  her  shoulder  lovingly  before  burying  his  face  in  her  neck  and  dark  curls .    “  what  about  a  road  trip ?  our  last  getaway  as  stefan  and  katherine ,   not  mom  and  dad ?  we  can  book  a  suite ,  i’ll  look  into  some  spa  treatments  that  could  work  for  you ,  you  can  even  have  one  glass  of  wine …  ”   they  were  both  not  drinking –  stefan  for  the  sake  of  staying  sober  after  he’d  finally  finished  going  to  rehab  for  his  injuries  years  back ,   and  katherine  for  more  obvious  reasons .  but  one  glass  wouldn’t  hurt  her  and  they  deserved  a  break .   his  hand  moved  between  them ,   gently  beginning  to  massage  against  her  lower  back  as  he  continued  to  speak .   “  no  baby  talk , or  lamaze  ,  or  advice  from  people  who  can  barely  handle  their  own  kids .   just  katherine  and  stefan .   and  sleep .  ”             @silentfright          /           pregnancy  meme
