Title: From Shadows

Genre: Cult fantasy/urban fantasy

Themes: betrayal, family ties, government conspiracy, possession, fate, disabled character

Status: Beta reading!

Synopsis: Cora Knight just saw her father hiding a body. Convincing her more responsible counterpart and lifelong friend, Toby, to join her, she abandons the life she’s always known only to find that she’s been tangled up in something much larger than herself since the day she was born.

When Toby starts blacking out for periods of a time and carving strange symbols into anything within reach, she begins to see through the thinly constructed facade protecting her perception of the world. When she meets the strange girl from the side of the road with mysterious knowledge of their situation, she hopes that maybe some questions will be answered. But if there’s one thing that Cora and Toby learn about ex-cult member Alice, focused on sealing away an ancient force that has been growing stronger, it’s that she doesn’t answer questions if she can help it.

Title: The Heart of the Abyss

Genre: High Fantasy

Status: Outlining

Synopsis: Captain Laurelle Devereaux is the cream of the crop in the King’s navy. Her superior seafaring and swordsman skills demand the respect of her crew and anyone who dares to cross her. Unfortunately though, her days as a pirate have not escaped her new, noble lifestyle, and her reputation for pillaging and drinking is beginning to catch up to her.

Prince Elias Hawthorne is the last in line for the throne. With little aptitude for his family’s magic, and no desire to marry, he is deemed of no use to the royal family. Cast out to sea on the esteemed Captain Devereaux’s ship, he is tasked with making a name for himself, rather than continuing to tarnish the name of the royal family.

Laurelle and Elias engage in a battle of wills and of morals, until they find themselves in posession of something far more problematic. The Heart of the Abyss is a treasure that is greatly sought after by not only kings and pirates, but by the sea itself. The crew must overcome the allure of the Heart’s magic, survive the wrath of those searching for it, and venture onto an unforgiving sea to get it back where it belongs before the consequences become dire.
