I. DO YOU HAVE A CERTAIN PLACE AT HOME TO READ?

I usually read sprawled across a chair, laying upside-down in my bed, or literally standing in a corner. I can’t just... sit.

II. DO YOU USE BOOKMARKS? IF SO, WHAT KIND?

Yes! I use bookmarks that I’ve gotten from subscriptions like Book of the Month, and also these cool water colored bookmarks that my sister makes sometimes. She’s super crafty and that means I get free stuff hehe.

III. CAN YOU JUST STOP READING, OR DO OYU HAVE TO MAKE IT TO THE END OF A CHAPTER?

Depends. If I’m tired or have to go do something/have some intrusive thought which means I have to act NOW! (Thanks OCD) I can put it down pretty fast. But usually, I give myself a page number goal or a chapter goal depending on how they’re spaced. I’m very particular about that lol.

IV. DO YOU LIKE TO EAT OR DRINK WHILE YOU EAT?

I’ll drink coffee or tea but I usually like to have my hands relatively free.

V. ONE BOOK AT A TIME OR SEVERAL AT ONCE?

I wish I were a one at a time person, but I always end up reading 2-3. Though I always dedicate more time to one than the other until I finish it.

VI. READING AT HOME OR OUT?

Home for sure. I get really paranoid about someone looking over my shoulder in public?? I know that’s weird but I really don’t want someone to bother me or talk to me about what I’m reading if I don’t know them. Reading is kinda a vulnerable thing for me so I prefer to be somewhere familiar with familiar people.

VII. READING OUT LOUD OR SILENTLY?

Silently unless I’m trying to read in a different language and learn pronunciation ya know

VIII. DO YOU READ AHEAD OR SKIP PAGES?

I used to, but I restrain myself now hahaha

IX. BREAKING THE SPINE?

Part of me hates it because it’ll never go back, but I also like the feel of a well-loved book. It has character. (Though I try to keep mine as nice as possible)

X. DO YOU WRITE IN YOUR BOOKS?

No, I use a journal or sticky notes. But fun story that nobody asked for: When I was really little I’d read Harry Potter to my mom before bed because I was obsessed with learning to read, and whenever she’d tell me it was time to sleep, I’d lug the book over to my little desk, and underline the exact word I’d finished on. Not sure why she let me do that, looking back on it.

Thank you all so much for getting me to this milestone :) This blog has helped me come a long way in a short time! I’ve been more productive and motivated, and I even have a book that will be published soon! Thank you thank you thank you

Sooooo there were some problems with the resolution and quality of the previous cover, but this is the actual, real cover for my debut novel From Shadows.

The quality is a little janky in this image but I’m super excited about it.

So, From Shadows is set in our world in the late 80’s. Therefore, the transportation is nothing interesting.

In The Heart of the Abyss however, things get more interesting. It’s still in developmental stages, but here’s whats getting people places so far:

The Queen Midas: this is the ship where most of the story takes place. It’s royal, so its enormous and made of dark wood with gilded details and dark blue sails with the royal crest on them.

Cave Carts: similar to minecarts, but closed in and with windows. These are present only in a society that I haven’t announced yet (ooo secrets) but they are used standing, holding onto one of those handhold things like on the bus. Not super safe, and not the fastest, but they get the job done.

Faerie Gondalas: these are pretty cool imo. Again, I haven’t introduced this society of faerie people yet, but they live in a very swampy forest and use these gondalas with lanterns suspended from them to get around. They’re intricately carved and have magical properties such as floating up and down waterfalls and through clouds.

Cora- 5/10 You never know what you’re gonna get with her. She plays the part of a distant person but she’s really pretty vulnerable and probably needs a hug. She’s really been through it though.

Toby- 9/10 What a soft boi. Definitely needs a hug. I don’t even blame him for the messed up shit he does in the books because tbh his life sucks, Cora is lowkey a toxic friend, and he deserves something good to happen to him,

Alice- 1/10 You’re probably best off not touching Alice. She’s like a cat: she’ll touch you, but you can’t touch her. Still, she’ll probably only touch you to punch you in the face.

Brighton- 7/10 Ah the comic relief man. Brighton is my problematic fave. He just wants to do his job. (He’s very professional, never hug him on the job.) But he’s definitely a softie somewhere beneath all the sarcasm.

Chloe- 0/10 Stone cold bitch. Kind of a badass, but also I hate her. Even if she wanted to cuddle, I’d assume there’s some other motive. She’s a crafty one. (I highkey love her she’s such a fun character and I’d totally thank her if she stabbed me.)
