No matter how many times Willow said it, every time hurt. The feelings of irritation and annoyance was always made clear whenever she did something Willow didn’t like, even if it was for her security. Even if she didn’t say ‘hate’ anymore, even if she acknowledged the fact she did save her and the saving would have been wasted if Althea did leave her to rot, Willow still was constantly reminded of Althea’s ‘failures’, of her ‘bad luck’.
Sometimes she thought she should have just found some place for her to stay, but then she would wonder if they would be good to her. She would constantly worry if she would be happy, but maybe any other place would be better than with her. A voice caught her attention and she took a look to the side, catching Adonis in a nearby view. Without another note, she flashed a smile at him, as wide as she could make it.
She decided to play dumb. She tilted her head, making her face confused as to what he was speaking about. Was he up now? How good for him. She pointed to the kitchen, wondering if he was hungry.
☁️ ┊ Adonis leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed as his eyes remained locked on Althea. He frowned when she smiled, knowing it was just a front. He’s seen it before with a girl similar to Althea ( albeit more willing to cry than the other ). The wider they smile the more they hurt, and he was not going to allow her to pretend she was fine. That could be saved for the stupid and the misunderstood, and Adonis was neither.
☁️ ┊ He waved a dismissive hand when she offered to feed him, it wasn’t as if the Skypiean was hungry either way. Adonis felt bad, Althea seemed to care so much for the other girl that was here prior, and all the other did was be bitter. He didn’t know their history, so it was difficult to judge whether or not the attitude was reasonable. At least, in the end, he could try to comfort her, though he’s not the best at showing how caring he could be.
❝ I don’t get why you tried so hard not to cry. ❞ He told her, making his way towards the nearest empty seat. Adonis’s wings twitched. The Skypiean thought of how to talk to her without being insensitive. ❝ Crying isn’t a sign of weakness. ❞ Adonis used to believe that when he was younger. He’d make anyone who cried a victim of his words, calling them a crybaby. When his sister fell ill, however, he cried alone, and realized how sometimes it couldn’t be helped. Sometimes the world was too cruel to not make you cry.
☁️ ┊ ❝ And smiling when you’re unhappy is not a sign of strength, either. ❞
