I should probably make it clear now that all my sign language videos will be mirrored - my right (dominant) hand will also be on the viewer’s right.
So for numbers: Both spoken Sumii and SSL use base 8. Up to 40 (decimal 32), which thumbs are bent tell you how many groups of 8 there are, with the rest being the same.
Pronouns: SSL sort of uses indexing similarly to ASL, but with a B handshape. Also, I made a mistake in the video and “I” and “YOU” are reversed.
For now, ignore the two-handed pronoun signs; I can’t remember what those meant but I think they were meant to be possessive. (I made these videos a few years ago; I’ve made a few changes to the language since then.)
Verb tense: Regardless of which hand is dominant, past tense is always signed towards the signer’s left and future towards the right. Present tense uses the neutral signing space.
