I haven’t watched enough of the other installments but in the trouble with tribbles episode the guy tries to sell a tribble to Uhura and they talk about credits as a currency. Just out of curiosity when in ST lore they mention that money doesn’t exist?
The most explicit mention of it that I personally remember happens in the TNG movie First Contact. They go back in time to 2063 to make sure Cochrane is successful in his warp drive, so the Vulcans notice and first contact is made.
