#SidePatchSunday 2019 San Diego Padres ✖ New Era 59Fifty AC OF 50th Anniversary (1969-2019) Fitted Cap. MLB expanded in 1969, 2 Teams in the American League and 2 Teams in the National League, the new AL teams were the Kansas City Royals and the Seattle Pilots and the NL Teams were the San Diego Padres and the Montreal Expos. The KC Royals celebrated their 50th Anniversary last year as they counted their Inagural season as their 1st year, unfortunately the Seattle Pilots was a one and done season in Seattle and relocated to Milwaukee in 1970 to become the Brewers so I am assuming they will celebrate their 50th next season (2020) Milwaukee was one of the candidates for an expansion in 1969 after the Braves moved to Atlanta along with another candidate in the Dallas/Ft. The A.L. defeated the N.L. 13-8 and the highest scoring All-Star game in history, Elias Kurts a 12 year old was given the honor to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, he was the first non-celebrity to do so in the ASG. On August 7, 2016 In his second season with the @marlins Ichiro Suzuki became the 30th player to hit for 3,000 career hits, he is only the second player to achieve the feat by hitting a triple for their 3,000th (Paul Molitor). Ichiro started his career with the Orix BlueWave of the Pacific League in the Nippon Professional Baseball League in 1992, in his 9 seasons there he batted .353 and collected 1,278 hits, He came to Seattle in 2001 to begin his Major League career, in his Rookie year Suzuki led the league in Batting Average and Stolen Base and was the runaway choice to win the ROY and MVP award, becoming only the second man to win MVP and Rookie of the Year the same season (Fred Lynn). In 2004 Ichiro broke the record for most total hits in a single season of 257 held by George Sisler in 1920, He finished 2004 with 262 hits. From 2001-2010 Ichiro have hit 200 or more in a season for 10 straight years, In 2012 He was traded to the NY Yankees and in 2015 he signed as a FA with the Miami Marlins.
