Jimmy was holding up significantly better,  although still riddled with pain, he was on  enough illegally prescribed pain-killers to  knock out Ali, so he would help her. He had to. It was in his nature. 

     “I can take you to a doctor. Just--” 

He takes Harleys hand, and wraps it around his shoulders, placing his hand on her hip, and  one under her knees, grunting as he picked her up. Something under his shirt was wet, he didn’t like that. 

     “I ain’t used to playing the knight in       shining armour.” 

This was his vague attempt at keeping the atmosphere light. He had to reassure her-- no matter how dangerous, how scary he still had to pretend that she was going to  be alright. The bruised and battered Jimmy took gentle but quick steps towards his car, passing the bodies the  pair’d left in their wake as he did. He opened the passenger door of the old, white, Jaguar XJS, and put the seat right back so Harley could lie down. Jimmy had too often relied on the kindness of strangers, he forgot that to other people, sometimes he had to be kind. He walked around the back  of his car, undid his suit jacket, which had a hole in it, and  inspected the wound. In the movies, being stabbed is shown as a big, painful, blood-soaked venture, and sure, there was blood, but it hadn’t felt like intense pain. It had felt like pressure, as if someone had punched him and kept their hand forcefully against his side. He buttoned up his shirt and his jacket. He  wasn’t the priority here. He got in the car, and turned on the ignition, put the car into drive, and off they went. Lights  flickering past the window, he glanced at Harley.
