Day 28. Life Expectancy. Now in 6th grade I read in my science text book about SCD and in the two paragraphs all I got was "Most sickle cell patient don't live past 21". They made tremendous advancement since the mid 90s but here are still sooo much more to be done to extend the life span for those with SCD. #sicklecell #sicklecellawareness #sicklecellawarenessmonth #sicklecellanemia #sicklecelldesease

I'd just like to take a minute today and thank my family and friends, and everyone for your support. For the prayers, well wishes, texts, phone calls, visits... There's been so much and I'm so grateful for the love and support I've received over the years while battling this thing called #sicklecell. I couldn't, and can't do it without y'all. So, this is just me saying THANK YOU! It never goes unnoticed. Today is world sickle cell day and it is to my understanding that the city of Edmonton is lighting up the high-level bridge in the Sickle Cell Foundation of Alberta's colors in support of those with #sicklecelldesease. I'm not sure what time this is happening but I'll be heading towards that area around 9ish. There's a gazebo at Grant Notley park that overlooks the river valley and the bridge, this is where I'll be, all are welcome! If you like to join, feel free to send me a message.
