#sick turtle

Hey followers and turtle experts! I need your help! A few months ago when I asked about my aunt's sick turtle, I got a response that was very helpful. Since my aunt didn't ask me any more questions, I thought that her turtle was better. But my aunt wants to know now; is it possible for a turtle to have neurological issues? According to her, the turtle does some strange things. The turtle bites herself, and she makes a weird loud popping sound with her jaw. Her back legs twitch sometimes, typically when she's laying still. She's started eating a little bit again, so she's a little better. I know almost nothing about turtles or turtle care, but personally I suspect that Chickapee(the turtle) may be stressed about her enclosure? In my opinion it's a little small for he size of the turtle, later when I get back to my aunt's house I'll take a picture. But does anyone know what could possibly be wrong?

Hey Reptiblr I need your help. My aunt has a red eared slider turtle who isn't acting right, and she asked me for help but I know next to nothing about turtles. I told her I would ask you guys, because I'm pretty sure that some of you have turtles and may be able to help! My aunt tells me that her red eared slider hasn't been eating. It's been months, but she's still not eating. She also has some red areas on her shell. She doesn't even really climb out of he water to bask anymore; just floats around in the water. They've taken her to an exotic vet, who gave them some injections for the red spots but it hasn't really had any effect. Any idea what's up with the turtle?

So my brother and I just got into a fight over the phone. He called saying his turtle hasn't been eating and I found out he hasn't changed their water in over a month! And they have grown pretty large but he still hasn't gotten them a larger tank. Neither did he get them a larger filter. I wrote down everything he needed to do to take care of his turtles properly before I left too. Now I'm upset that his turtle will die. I have no control over what he decides to do but I just wish he'd follow my advice when he asks for it. I told him to surrender his turtles to the LFS so that they could give it a better environment and possibly save his sick turtle and he got angry and shouted at me . Telling me I was a know it all show off and that he made a mistake thinking I could help him. Then he hung up on me. Please people if you get a turtle read about it first. Buy everything it needs before you get a turtle. They need more than just a tank filled with water.
