The Vuka Bros (m-net tag awards)
How long has it been?
alphonse:" 2 months."
That's right. It's been 2 months since we started on our video for the M-net tag awards competition.
so the rules of the competition are simple. you have to create a either a 1min, 45sec or 30sec public service announcement video that will educate or inform the viewers about some sort of cause in bettering the world we live in.
My classmates (Alphonse Mucyo, Siyanda Sibisi and Ntando Simelane) and I decided: "hey, you know what? we going to do this!") so forth started our journey on creating our footage. I'm not one for talking about the sentiments in between but ultimately we did it. using motion tracking and animation we came up with something i think will touch your heart.
our topic: littering
our story begins with a cooldrink can thrown out by it's previous owner. Realising that it's been abandoned, it makes friends with other disposed items (namely: a light bulb, a cigarette pack and a bottle of water). their journey takes them through the parks and suburbia and into the city where they finally reach their destination. the foot of a recycle bin, unable to throw themselves in.
"They can't do it all by themselves"
Their journey is just a large exaggerated metaphor of how litter floats freely around the city reaching every single corner, in search of the bin, whilst remaining completely ignored by the world! The ending, pushes the point that they cannot enter a bin or recycling compartment without our help.
wow.... just thinking of it... i'm sorry i need a moment--
Anyway, today is the last day till the final entry date and we are proud about how far this has gone. The amount of things we've learnt impecible. From new programmes and protocol that needs to be taken before shooting. especially the understanding of how much a team works out better than a lonesome bastard.
Don't wish us luck. instead be proud with us
