birth is a traumatic event. It scars everyone.
Most humans are scared of tight spaces, most humans are scared of suffocating. Both of these are fears gained at birth (probably, I have no source, this is my shower thought.) That's why fetal position is so nice. That's why laying in the dark under a warm blanket is so calming
