Meet Grubble! Normally I would explain what things are when I get them... but grubble here is a bit of a mystery! I got him off of a very vague auction. Let me explain what we might know:
1. Grubble is most likely somewhere between 15-30+ years old.
2. He's probably a woodbaby puppet! I did some digging and found a few sources that are pointing me in that direction.
3. His species? His previous owner said he was a baby gargoyle, but I've discovered he's probably a jhari cat! (but he's a baby gargoyle to me ❤️)
Now, I know nothing about these little guys or the companies associated with them, but I do know Grubble is one of the cutest little guys I've ever seen!
However, as always on this blog, he needed some restoration work! Restoration details under the cut!
Grubble was listed as being pretty beat up but in nice condition despite his flaws. This was true! However, his flaws ended up being a bit of a large undertaking...
As you can see, his head had a rip in it, and his tail was ripped terribly in several places. The last photo is the enormous hole in his neck, which I'll get to in a second. His tail and head were remedied very carefully, able to be pieced back together in a way I was comfortable with.
This isn't perfect by any means due to the fact everything was still mostly attached and couldn't be repositioned, but I was able to salvage all of his existing fur and close up all the holes.
Now, for his neck...
As you can see, his head raise was entirely nonfunctional due to the enormous hole mentioned earlier. He also had another massive hole on his cheek that was contributing to the issue.
After sleuthing out the best way to repair this, I came to the conclusion that he needed to be repaired with his neck tucked in tightly to allow the proper tension to complete a head raise! And it was a success!
Though this repair was a bit more than I had anticipated, I'm super pleased with the result and can't wait to take grubble on many new adventures! Yippee!

Help me out furb community! I’ve recently decided that I’m going to create my own odd body furby. The idea is that they will be a mixture of a shoulder puppet and poseable art doll, that way they can either be posed and snuggled with or posed while laying across one’s shoulders with an apparatus to move around the head. As I’m not experienced with anything relating to dolls or puppets, this will surely be a challenge!
These concepts are very rough as I just wanted to get the ideas I have down before I end up forgetting them, and this is not the final design by a long shot.
Anyways, here’s where I need your help! Does anyone have suggestions as to what I should do to improve this design? Any accommodations I should account for (ie. how to change out the furby batteries without tearing the skin apart, making the body more stable, etc.)? I’d really appreciate the help!
I have a trico shoulder puppet! He moves his head back and forth and left and right! I want to bring him to small cons, anthrocon, and a renaissance festival. Also my cat Tickly loves the rabbit fur >w< Here’s credit to the person who made this cutie!
