On November 14, 2025, Houston police responded to a chaotic scene in the Sharpstown area after three people were shot in an alleyway near Harwin Drive around 2 a.m. According to HPD, two officers were in the middle of a traffic stop when they suddenly saw a man open fire toward a group of people gathered near a homeless encampment behind the businesses. An officer immediately intervened, firing five rounds toward the suspect, though the gunman was not hit. The shooter dropped his weapon and attempted to flee but was detained shortly afterward. Police recovered the pistol and holster at the scene.
