Mayfield City Schools turning kids into “crack” addicts?
My youngest daughter was taking candy from her teacher's stash, gave it away to classmates, and was caught red handed. It is regrettable behavior and not acceptable.
But what is incredible is that they allow candy in Mayfield City Schools at all, let alone as a reward mechanism. With 70% of adults in America being overweight, 35% obese and 10% having diabetes, feeding kids sugar at school is very much a problem. I personally do the best I can to regulate how much sugar my kids eat daily, but do not account for the amount schools are feeding them? This is terribly unfortunate and borderline criminal at many levels.
Do they not know sugar is addictive?
While my daughter’s behavior is inexcusable, I'm afraid she very well might be addicted to sugar... Tell a crack addict where the crack stash is, and what are they going to do? Same, same.
The American public is utterly duped into the food pyramid and thinking sugar is okay; it is blatantly killing us and akin to asbestos in many ways.
ASBESTOS: The more exposure you have to asbestos, the more likely you are going to get cancer.
SUGAR: The more you eat/drink sugar, the more likely you are going to be overweight and suffer from heart disease and diabetes.
I will be sure to address this matter at Micha's teacher parent conference tonight as I can revel in irony only for so long. And I encourage every parent to do the same. Feeding kids candy in schools must stop; it is criminal.
Sadly, obesity rates suggest that many parents are addicted to sugar, as well. Trying to convince other "crack "addicts this is a good idea will be a tough sell.
