Tesoro used to be pretty squirrely about all the handling, noises, and smells that came along with a full set of shoes - for awhile we had to split fronts and backs into separate sessions so he wouldn’t get overwhelmed. Now he stands politely for his full set of four with only a little bit of baby-fidgeting and some worried faces, but almost no shenanigans! He even allowed his feeties to be polished with the fancy new buffing device! Thanks go out to my farrier for always being patient with this sensitive child! He has really helped to build his confidence and trust!

Okay so, I regularly get sucked into watching videos of horses getting their hooves trimmed and new shoes put on, etc.. As not-a-horse-knower, I always have the same question on my mind: how do they know not to go too deep/take off too much?? I realize experience™ has a lot to do with it, but it freaks me out thinking about them getting a toesie injury by accident.
