If you think your workplace is bad, I’m apparently a disappointment to mine because I was waiting for a minibus incorrectly
I'm not the fucking manager.
That was not my fucking problem to solve.
Yet out of all the 100+ employees that have been working in this goddamn store for the last 4 months,
I
Am the one who got so fucking fed up and initiated a solution my goddamn self. Didn't ask permission from anybody, I just parked my fat ass back there and spent 45 minutes of my time, making this problem significantly less of a fucking problem.
Initially when I went to the hospital and told my boss that I had to be off for 5 days because I was sick she said it was fine and if I needed an additional day I could have it. Now that I need the additional day she's telling me no. Fucking hell. Guess she'll need to get me a puke bucket because I'll be going back and forth otherwise. All because she claims there's no one to cover the shift...there's no one to cover the shift because people quit because she was being a shitty manager. If she'd smarten up it wouldn't be an issue.
I despise bootlicking managers so much.
I was in the GAP i believe, and found the CUTEST blue top. It was a kids athletic top that was 45 FUCKING DOLLARS. (It fit me well wnough surprisingly)
It wasnt even their brand, and it didnt even ring up. It was from Athletica. The very nice girl told us to ask the front if we could just have it. Just our fucking unlucky luck. The manager was working that day.
'Oh yeah you cant have it :/// its from our sister brand :/// yeah you cant have it at all, we're gonna take it back to them and you wont be able to buy it :/// can you point out which girl so i can 'talk' to her'
And my dad did point her out after i fucking told him not to and now im worried we just costed an employee their job. Cuz wtf dude, you dont even sell the damn shirt. It was in the back right next to a dressing room. ITS NOT EVEN FROM THE STORE YOU WORK AT.

remembering my old manager, who laughed at my cat’s name (Althea), said “that’s kind of a weird name for a cat don’t you think?” and then, with full confidence in herself and her cat naming abilities, went “my cat’s name is Princess.”
like ok girl lmao i definitely didn’t ask though
Had an exhausting time at work this morning. Worked incredibly hard despite being salty about missing a movie with friends last night for my 6am shift. We unloaded a semi truck of boxes, sorted, dropped, slashed boxes, pulled items, unwrapped, and stocked them, then cleaned and prepped the whole store for opening. We finished early and we were promised we could go home early if we did, we finished early and I wasn't allowed to leave early. THEY LIED and I was pissed. I wanted to cry I was so disappointed and exhausted. I wanted to scream! We're supposed to be rewarded for doing a good job not punished and lied to. I wasn't asking for extra pay (tho we should), All I wanted was to leave a little early to get pancakes at McDonald's before they stopped serving them. BUT NOOOOO. WORK WORK WORK WORK! You did a great job, stay longer as a reward. >:(
I feel like a wage slave getting dicked around by my managers as they're forced to work the will of their evil corporate overlords.
My pay is shit, my "benefits" are shit, and the job is shit!
UPDATE: took my husband to the doctor and in the waiting room the nurse gave me free candy. Feeling a little better.
Have you ever had that one manager that makes or breaks it for you at a job? I've had a lot of those, and it's mostly been a break it scenario. (Funnily enough all of the break it managers I've had have been female.) Also fair warning, this is a rant, and I can't put a read more because I'm on mobile.
So today, I was supposed to work the morning shift. But I woke up to stomach flu symptoms this morning and just did not feel well enough to leave my apartment, let alone work an 8 hour shift (with a nearly 30 minute commute just to get there). So I did the natural thing and called my opening manager up to let her know I wasn't feeling well and wouldn't be able to make it to work.
Now I've been sick a lot this year, because I have to deal with sick customers and my less than effective immune system (which I believe has been rather shot due to depressive episodes I've had during this job), so my attendance isn't the greatest. It's not the worst either though, since I do generally push myself to work when I know I can keep up. But I was expecting the "We'll need to discuss your attendance when you come back" which is whatever. If I'm going to be punished for not coming in when I could infect everyone with the sick, then I'll just come and get EVERYONE sick. Sounds logical.
What I wasn't expecting was her to make me feel guilty for calling out for the day. One of the things I do before calling off a shift for the day is to check the schedule to see which manager I'll need to call, so I also see who is going to be working that day. And what does this manager do? She tells me "Well we're not going to have a cashier today now" or something along those lines. So suddenly now I'm feeling guilty for something I can't help. And this wasn't some thoughtless comment either. Like I said, I checked the schedule so I KNOW that two of our other main cashiers had the same shift as me. She meant that comment to be a guilt trip, which is not acceptable.
What was she expecting me to do? Magically make the sick go away and come in? Sure, let me just go to work and have to be sent home anyway because I've accidentally thrown up on a customer. That'll go over well with corporate.
I've been debating looking for a new job because I've had way too many depressive episodes while working this one, and her shitty guilt tripping comment is just the last straw for me. I'll be happy to leave her and the company behind for another job.
