AU where Ryan and Shane are exactly what youâd expect:
heâs so passionate about proving the existence of aliens because he has taken it upon himself to bridge the species gap between humans and extraterrestrials and is trying to prepare humanity for The Big Revealâ˘ď¸
really into ghosts/demons because (since heâs not from earth) he wasnât exposed to the supernatural in pop culture (such as Halloween, goosebumps book series, gasper the friendly ghost, etc) that solidify âspookyâ things as fiction suitable for children,,,,,,,, so he basically plunged headfirst into the world of mostly rational adult supernatural investigation without any context
is super jumpy and thinks every âshoe squeak on wood floorâ and âtree rustling in windâ sound is a ghost bc he doesnât have a good frame of reference for ânormal sounds that one encounters on earthâ
obviously doesnât expose himself as an alien to anyone (yet) becauseÂ
he doesnât want to end up in a government facility; being experimented on and never permitted to see the outside world again
eventually begins to realize how devastating it would be to his friends and coworkers (and closest compatriot, Shane) if his outerspace origins were brought to light
dismisses Ryan's supernatural evidence way too confidently and nonchalantly
âTrust me, thatâs not a demon whisper... I know what a demon whisper sounds likeâ
speaks directly to âthe spiritsâ in the haunted locations they visit, appearing as a mocking gesture towards Ryan---------- but occasionally heâs actually communicating with entities and subtly threatening them not to fuck with Ryan and him
Weird Shitâ˘ď¸ happens more commonly around him bc of his Demon Mojoâ˘ď¸ so he automatically dismisses anything strange that Ryan points out with a sort of bored and mechanical cadence (little things such as erratic animal behavior or small objects moving slightly on their own--- all the way to disembodied touches, ghost voices and full rooms rearranging themselves in the dark)
doesnât out himself as a demon bc in the past it has driven away all his friends and even brought violence against him
his occasional moodiness and irritability when arguing with Ryan over the legitimacy of the supernatural stems from a place of hurt and betrayal felt in the numerous rejections of his once-trusted friends as well as a subconscious desperation to keep Ryan unsuspicious of his own diablerie in order to not lose him too
And the best part is both think each other to be a normal human!
