First pic I took in 2025 was letting my friend know I was omw home from NYE at a lesbian bar, ferry ticket in hand after throwing up in the terminal bathroom but comfortably reading mota fic. bless my chungus life
But one im willing to post?
Girls Generation Graffiti I found in a bar bathroom like a week later
24.) Did you keep any New Year's Resolutions?
I never really have resolutions except for a kinda vague "I'd like to be more creative" which I think I did succeed with! I may not draw a lot like I want to but I've been learning to sew and doing crafts for work and stuff so it's something :PPP
your descriptions of place and setting are so moody and realistic - do you draw these from actual places you’ve been or do they just sprout in your mind?
Oooh, very interesting question and thank you so much for saying! I love really getting to the heart of a place when I write and it makes me so happy to hear that it comes through!
In answer, probably a bit of both?
For some locations I reference from written or film works, for example the school in Birthday Boy is heavily inspired by If... (1968)
For others (like the seaside town in S&V or the extremely inaccurate Chicago from 3am) I kinda just feel it out and make it up, though in those cases I'm usually drawing pretty heavily on lived experience as well
I also think some of it comes down to the fact that I've been lucky enough to have traveled a lot, lived in a lot of very different places and experienced a lot of really varied things. I also go out of my way to do interesting stuff on a day to day basis and to commit the details to memory, be that going to the library or on a hike or to a rave.
I guess I'm just very interested in the sensory experience of being alive and I put all of that into my writing
Hope that answers your question and sorry for the ramble! 💜
fivequel!
fivequel’s the “eighty billion words of curt stuck on base while the buckies are stalaged” installment of dctctc, and to entice people to actually READ the damn thing at the moment i’m thinking the structure of each chapter will be one section of what curt’s getting up to on base, one section that’s a flashback to the two months of semi-domestic bliss the three of them got, and one section that’s marge and curt’s letters back and forth to catch up on the buckies via what they’ve told her in THEIR letters. we’ll see if i can actually pull it off, but for now have a snip from a flashback section!
“He say something? About—” he flaps a hand between the three of them, doesn't know how else to put it, “—this? Friedkin,” he clarifies, when they both give him a blank look. Both their faces close off—and any other time it'd be a head rush, that he can see it on Buck’s face now, even if Bucky’s been an easy read from jump. But they're keeping something from him, and he doesn't fucking like it. “Don’t,” he snaps when Bucky opens his mouth, and it's not even satisfying when he shuts it straight away. “If it’s brass business, say so and I’ll leave it alone, but don't fucking lie to me.” His ass is on the line too, if Friedkin thinks he knows something. And if either of them think they're taking the fall for what Curt dragged them both into, they got another thing coming. “Tried to get me to leave you behind,” Buck grits out, eyes on the ceiling ‘stead of either Curt or Bucky. “Trondheim and Regensburg.” That’s… better, really. By a lot. He shoots Bucky a glance, because Buck might be able to lie straight-faced, but Bucky wears everything on his face, and the shifty look is gone, replaced by a scowl that’s got Curt convinced. He lets out a breath and drops his head back to the pillow. Says, “Well, you should've,” shrugging his shoulders against the sheets. And then he startles a foot high when Bucky barks, “What the fuck, Curt?” and sits bolt upright. It catches Curt as off guard as a JU-88 flyin’ out of the sun. “What?” he barks right back, sharp from the shock. “Not like I ain’t grateful, but—” “You don't fuckin’ sound it,” Bucky snaps back at him. “The hell’re you thinking, we should've?”
