Having briefly met in NO during the aftermath of Katrina, they started working together in 2009 when Jack joined PTMC. They quickly became close, though Jack stubbornly still clung to a "deployment" lifestyle. It made Robby question his attachment to what had become his best friend, only to realize that he was in love with him around 2013. They got together in 2015, only for Robby to propose in 2017 when Jack joined Swat because no way in hell that was going to happen without Robby being able to be in charge if anything happened. They eloped, between two shifts , at the court house, with Dana and Weylen as witness. The promise of a ceremony never was fulfilled as Covid hit. Covid hit and grief and duty took over Robby's heart, guilt and surrender took Jack's. While their relationship has become...tricky, their love for each other did not. Tip toeing around each other ever since, longing sometimes for the time they had, they remain each other's anchor in the storm. However with Pittfest, Robby's mental health deteriorated to the point that they separated, still maried as they cannot let go of each other that easily. Destiny really seem to test them and the changes they have to go through.

headcanons

They have always kept their relationship private, no one knows besides Dana, Weylen and Elias. Others have clocked things but never confirmed.

They tend to check in with each other by usually a pinky touch to the others hand, or a hand to the back. That has not really stopped after their relationship ended.

Robby has learned how to deal with Jack's PTSD and has, much like Weylen, a full kit of Jack's emergency medication at the ready.

Jack never really oversteps Robby authority in the ED, but completes it, their eye conversation is on another level for thinks to say or not say or where Robby wants Jack to operate.

Nour has a 15 minutes welcome time with Robby, because she likes that beard. Old bud and Robby have a porch understanding and just exist in each other's presence when the weather allows it.

Jack calls Robby "fibs" or "gunner"

Their routine living together was Robby doing breakfast, Jack dinner. One leaving the other food.

They have met in Bethesda in late 2004. to say Elias witnessed a fucked up version of Jack is an understatement.

Their duo weekends are so unhinged they do not talk about it because they both plead the fifth. The hikes they do are definitely not beginner friendly and do test Jack's leg a lot.

Elias does Jack's favorite steaks. It's juicy, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. There is no debate about it, even with Weylen or Robby.

Jack knows how to make Elias' ears blush and does it to annoy the fuck out of him. Mostly by play pretending that he's flirting with him during working hours.

Jack always has cherry coke in his truck and makes sure his locker always has some.

They have an ongoing disagreement about music in the truck and that has never been resolved either. Just goes hand in hand with Elias' lack of sense of direction. Strong opinions, terrible passenger.

They both have mastered the low whisper, to people it appears they argue and fight a lot, but really that's how they have the most heartfelt conversations while their face shows something else.

sometimes Jack pulls rank on Elias for no reason, sometimes it is to make him shut up.

They have a very particular way to deal with each other's episodes, much like brothers in arms do it on the front.

They have each other coffee order memorized, Elias always threatens to switch it out for decaf.

Jack has hidden a talkie walkie in Elias' bike, and old melted Twizzlers in his car, he still needs to find it.

Jack got away this year with a birthday wish and a knife as a gift. They do not talk about it, but Elias do be using that knife.

Jesse used to be working the nightshift, the betrayal was felt and is still lingering to this day on Jack's side.

They do festivals together, music unites them

They are the most judging duo the ED has ever witnessed, maybe that's why it's better they don't share shifts anymore

They both witnessed a case, they do not talk about that case, they are both convinced it was a true possession, that night was the weirdest shit possible. Jesse is convinced the demon is stil in the upper levels of the hospital, cannot prove it.

Their meeting was written by fate, and yet, in each of her life time, Jack does find her and patiently waits for her to remember. They are quite the pair in gossip and judging humanity for their flaws. Admittedly, Jack brings a more petty side of Feng out, while she reminds him of his humanity.

Wanda started her Rn career at PTMC where she did meet Jack. More a nightshift nurse than a dayshift, she liked to be his accomplice in much trouble making. Taking the opportunity to follow him in MSF work, she remained overseas while he came back. /mainvariant/ While cooped up under the most horrendous conditions, they grew closer until Jack caved and allowed himself to pursue his attraction for her. As she came back to Pittsburgh, they moved in together in her flat, keeping his cabin for weekend escapades. Helping her get back into things and civilization, they sadly were both victims of a shooter going through the ED, being non other than Ogilvie. Both are recovering from this by taking it slow.

Nour has taken to Wanda more than to Jack, she just plays dead on the woman every day.

They have a weekly routine of meal prepping, Jack is really just Wanda's sous-chef and grocery bringer. He does not mind though, she's an excellent cook.

Jack has taught Wanda many of his medic techniques while out with MSF, which makes their work dynamic unique as he gives her much more agency than other nurses

Wanda is a hawk when it comes to Jack's mood and down moment, and is rather skilled in avoiding him spiraling all together.

Jack takes Wanda to beach walks as soon as they can, it is truly their ritual and beach days are just the most quiet and peaceful there are.

They play pranks on each other on occasion, and have a tab open about it.

When Jack wants Wanda to stop arguing, he just lifts her over his shoulder.

Weylen has kept the gun, it is in a safe, each anniversary of Jack's choice, a beer cap is added, it also has the baby shoe of Tessa in it. A reminder.

They always go eat their feelings, the most disgusting food possible when big feelings happen. It's a tradition.

Weylen is the master of the kitchen, there is no fumbling with anything, unless it's chocolate ship pancakes or a grilled cheese sandwich.

The couple rarely flies, drives mostly using Betsy.

Weylen is in charge of Jack's leg care, and does force him to take care of it.

They do not have sex at the hospital, they both find that just weird given the nature of the place.

Weylen is very addicted to Jack, this is even more noticeable when Jack is wearing a uniform.

Not everyone at the ED knows who Jack is married to.

They are great communicators, but sometimes Jack does have troubles keeping his promise to not lie to Weylen, especially when he's in the wrong
