"I would disagree, but I do love them.." He chuckled a little, as he tried to beat down the continuous fear that sat at the back of his mind. He was here, he was fine, that should be enough but it wouldn't till he could hold him and kiss him. He needed that tangible proof.

Weylen nodded, understanding the need to keep medics on the field especially after whatever the fuck had happened with the officer. Jack's reassurances were nice and he could let his concern ebb a little. "Well, if they're good without you we should get you out of this."

He leaned against the wall watching Jack as he spoke with the SWAT lead and he couldn't stop looking at the way he was standing. His leg was likely in worse shape than he'd originally thought. Weylen sighed in relief when he confirmed he was done, at least now he could get him upstairs and taken care of.

He was about to suggest the chair but he was already ahead of him. "Alright show off." He shook his head and started for the elevator. "Definitely starting with the shower."

Once they were in the elevator he pressed the button for the surgical floor and waited till the doors shut again. He leaned over and kissed his husband softly, "I'm glad you're alright." He rested his head against Jack's before he pulled back. "You showing up covered in blood is never a good."

"Careful babe." He didn't want to put his patient's blood on Weylen even if he could not really say no to a kiss from his husband or let him get one. Jack rolled his eyes. "Listen, me covered in blood was sexy for you 30 seconds ago, make up your mind, husband. " he joked to diffuse any worry or tension there was between them. He knew that he was worrying Weylen, that there was no reason for him to be a SWAT physician.

When the doors opened again, he rolled out. "Okay..." He rolled a bit towards the showers. "Oh wait. Take this with you." he asked as he unclipped his holster. He'd rather have his weapon in Weylen's office than with him in the showers. You never knew. He gave it to him and then rolled to the showers of staff.

Coming home from work was the best part of the day now. He'd left on time without issue and didn't even have argue about it. The drive home was quick and easy he'd managed to avoid the majority of traffic. He took the few things he needed out the bronco and headed inside. Her little shriek was cute and just narrowly avoided being ear piercing. "Hello, Binti." He set down the water bottle and plucked her up into his arms. He kissed her cheek as he kicked his shoes off and headed in.

"Mhmm that is what I asked." He chuckled and looked to Tessa, "Well looks like Dad is a floor monster now." She giggled and seemingly agreed before going into a full breakdown of their day and the coloring and all the fun. "Sounds like I missed a pretty good day. Getting hungry?" The question is met with vigorous nodding, "Alright go wash up and you can help."

"That is a very good question. Last time I was down here, someone gave me carpet burns." he replied with a glint in his eyes thinking of some time between them in that very same spot. Jack sighed. "But I have to get up don't I ? Someone needs to clean this living room. She is a tornado today." Jack pointed out.

He sat up after much internal pep talk, just in time to be knocked down again by a pullet Tessa arriving on him. He let out a groan. That girl had more strength for a 5 years old than it appeared. "Baba, I slay the monster!" Tessa proclaimed. "Are you suuure about thaaat. " Jack replied and held her in his lap while sitting up with tickling noises while he was attacking her sides.

Everything had gone wrong so fast. Like someone at TIPPED him over the edge of a plane and sent him freefalling, the ground getting closer and closer and CLOSER . Air screaming in his ears. And all he could do was wait for the impact that would SHATTER every bone and ORGAN in him.

The shift had been it's own type of hell. The wet scent and metallic BLOOD and antiseptic still in his nose, clogging his pores....and yet all he could think about was what had happened before it. AFTER IT.

He shouldn't have said that to Robby. Regretted it the moment it had left his mouth. Frank could blame it on the chaos of the shift, the BLOOD under his shoes, the images behind his eyes. But that would be a lie. His own CHOKING fear had brought that to his tongue. Fear of his world collapsing had had him spit that out. Fear of losing the trust of the man he'd looked up to. The way Robby had looked at him. It had burned something within frank. Like a BRAND under his ribs. Selfishly he'd wanted to explain, to make him SEE. But now everything...everything was..

Resting forward, elbows on knees, Langdon forced the heels of his palms against it his eye. Ignoring the PAIN it caused and the way his vision spotted when he opened them again. An almost HYSTERICAL edge to blue eyes. So lost in it he almost flinched when the seat beside him was taken. ' Don't think I would've been welcome. ' Frank rubbed his hands together. Pushing a thumb into the opposite palm of his hand. Unable to meet Jack's gaze. ' I messed up, Jack. I really messed up. '

There was a flicker of confusion at Langdon's words. Granted, he did not have the time to talk to Robby much today. Their conversation on the roof and the beer they shared was about all he had gotten out of a very tired, and in Jack's opinion, very re-traumatized man. He had planned to check on him later.

What he had heard, came from a janitor and an EMT and neither could really say what the fight was about, just that Robby seemed to be pissed at Langdon an had sent him home. Whatever it was, it must have been bad, as he was taking Frank in, the way he flinched, rubbing his hands together. There was a barely hidden panic in his behavior.

It was clear to him something with more weight had happened because Frank was even avoiding his gaze. Seemed a theme tonight. While Frank was fidgety, Jack was the opposite, still a grounding force for those needed, even after today's' events. Especially after today's' events.

"He mentioned many things, but none were about you." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Everyone messes up, Frank, that's part of being human, even the bad ones."

Turning to Perlah, she takes the equipment she has asked for. Her fingers snap open the ampule, deft and steady fingers draw up the ampoules liquid with a syringe and needle and then injects the IV bag with it. Several sharp shakes of the bag she spikes the bag with a plain line and throws it up onto the pole, drip chamber missing as she’s not even putting it into a vein and she needs the pressure to help her in what she’s about to do. 

She thinks about explaining things to Jack but she’s also pretty sure she’s preaching to the choir, but this is one trick she was proud of. It's basically baby shampoo and saline. “Just sit back and look up for me…this will sting for like ten seconds and then it will feel better, I promise.” She’s never been one for telling people things won't be painful or they won't hurt. There was no way around it sometimes, an IV line going in was going to hurt for a few seconds, a nerve block would sting and then go numb. It’s just…honesty, and if there's a hill that Mel will kill upon, that is it.  

“Caspasin is only soluble in oil,” Mel points out, and while she’s aware the standard reaction for most people is to just pour enough saline on it to drown an army and it will eventually wash out. There were much more efficient ways to deal with it. “A little detergent and it just washes right out.” how she had picked up that little tidbit was a story but one she wasn’t elaborating on, a randomly assigned college room mate who had some opinions and was into expressing them very publicly as often as possible. Mels pretty sure said room mate is in law school now, fitting, she thinks.

He darkness however, now that was unnerving. The loss of something that he used so much to ground and orient himself. This was new and he did not like it. It made certain things louder than they should be. Jack gripped the side of the bed when his eyes were touched. It did sting. But she was doing the right thing, if his throat wasn't so damn irritated and his nose running so much, he would have asked for this himself.

The burning sensation was dispersing as she was applying the wash to his eyes. He slowly began to relax again, and gave her a thumb's up when she asked the question. He had to sneeze more than once during this procedure, or cough and just lit it all run down his face.

“Yeah…” Mel answers, the word almost slow, “very…different around here now.” Which was an interesting way to put it, if not oddly diplomatic for Mel. Even she knows better than to open her mouth while on shift, at least when they’re not both on shift. Instead, Mel chooses to focus on the idea that Jack trusts her enough to look after his child, which frankly, he has a child, and two…he does trust her enough? Not the time to go down that spiral. 

“Hi Tessa, my name's Mel,”a small but soft smile as Mel points towards one of the rooms, “we’re going to go into room three,” she takes a step back, giving them room to move and deliberately hangs back. If only so she can use this moment to watch Tessa carefully. It’s easier to examine someone's gait when they don’t really realise they are being observed. People did weird things unintentionally when they knew they were being watched.

Once they’re in the room Mel gently closes the door behind her, and then pets the exam table. “How about you jump up here and we can have a look.” A moment's pause before Mel sits herself down on the stool and brings herself down to Tessa's level. “Do you remember how it happened?” It’s not so much that Mel's concerned about her memory, more if she even recalls how her foot had moved, “when you injured it, did it move like this,” Mel raises her hand, turns it over one way, “or like this?” And then the other. She’s trying to work out what stress would have been placed where because even the glance at her foot and where the swelling was raised a little red flag in the back of her mind.

"I can imagine. Things to do that when you're not there anymore or at least not on a daily basis." Jack pointed out. That was life, and some work environnement were better than others. The shortage of staff and budget however, well that was a problem many looked away from.

"You think you can walk to that room munchkin? " Tessa nodded. Maybe it was because was a work colleague of her father or maybe it was just because she was as stubborn as her dads, but she took slow steps, not putting much weight on her thought. She held herself on Jack who was being her crutch and guiding her slowly towards the room.

Jack helped her up on the bed and remained standing behind her on the opposite side of the bed as to not be in Mel's way. The girl kept her father's hand in hers on her lap. She looked at Jack when Mel asked the question. "She's talking to you, not to me, you have a tongue, go on." Jack coaxed her. Tessa sighed. "Okay so, I had the ball on my stick and I was running when this girl came up to me, so I made a 360 to avoid her getting the ball and slipped and fell, but when I was falling I think she slamed into me, right dad?"

"Yeah, they collided and the other girl walked on her ankle. " She explained. At Mel's quesiton the thought about it, and pinched her lips to her side, just like Jack did when he was thinking. "Eh I think it went like this." She mimicked the first motion. "I did hear something crack, but I thought it was my stick."
