that. actually makes a fuckload of sense and im so upset i didnt get that beforehand (and also how the only time corvo is shown is with a mask. imagine that hair in that type of engine)
YEAH LOL sadly enough tvtropes pointed it out to me. i mean they make it work w the universe (bc dunwall is very utilitarian) but it wasnāt the main reason
TBH YEAH.... WTF.... it wouldnāt even look bad necessarily bc emilyās has some length to it and it looks fine. tho his IS longer so it might look... a lil awkward
ah,, do you think you could explain the ships not being abusive thing for me? i dont mean this condemingly its just that although i personally dont like say c. h el//do s, ive only ever seen ppl condemn them or support them w/o rly explainin why ykno
np np!! you specifically mentioned ch.ell.dos but iāll go ahead and do bil.liede.lilah too for convenienceĀ
also so i donāt have to keep doing the periods thing, iām gonna shorten them to c/g and b/d
c/g first!!
the biggest thing with this ship is that glados is a robot. like sheās literally an AI. not even a humanoid one! so while her actions of, like, killing everyone in aperture science, are Bad theyāre generally incomparable to a human doing the same thing. so like, glados trying to kill chell in the first game/first half of the second game is bad but not the same thing as a human trying to, because imposing human morals on inhuman things is a little weird.
the second biggest thing is that people who try to cite c/g as abusive is they completely ignore the latter half of portal 2. you know, the half of the game where chell and glados team up? and glados is noticeably much kinder to chell since sheās not hooked up to the giant thing that forces her to test? like when wheatley is hooked up to it heās a straight up evil bastard, while he wasnāt when he didnāt have theĀ āitchā to test imposed on him. likewise, glados is far less evil when the āitchā is not imposed on her. the latter half (and, imo, the most important part) of portal 2 is focused on the development of chell and gladosā relationship and people just... ignore that. by the end of the game theyāre, at the very least, on good terms.
thirdly, the turret opera song Ā (sung entirely in italian) that plays when glados finally sends chell up to the surface, is really fucking gay.Ā (note that bambina is translated literally asĀ ālittle girlā orĀ āchildā but is actually wildly used as a pet name)Ā
this part is mostly analysis but the moon is a common theme in lesbian literature and of course itās also a huge theme in portal 2. gladosā attitude about wanting to kill chell so badly but not quite understanding why is reminiscent of compulsory heterosexuality (āi feel things for this girl that i donāt understand, so it must be hatred.ā) the fact that glados couldāve killed her in the HOURS she was unconscious if she actually wanted chell dead but instead waited for her to come to so she could send her to the surface. the fact thatĀ ākilling you? is hardā could refer to literally or regarding her feelings. glados claiming to hate chellās murderous traits Ā yet desiring those exact traits in atlas and peabody in the co-op campaign. i could honestly go one but basically
people who blatantly ignore all this stuff and dismiss c/g as a hateship or abusive (or worse, say that glados/caroline is chellās MOTHER) really, really bother me lmao
MY B/D SPIEL IS NOT NEARLY AS LONG, I PROMISE LMFAO
ok so first of all we see like, 5% of b/dās relationship in the game. what we see is billie either owning up to her hand in the plot or delilah ruining her chance to do so. either way, at this point neither of these women are on good terms with each other. that doesnāt mean their relationship was abusive?
i feel like people cite delilahās status as a villain to demonize their relationship, which... no, someone can be a villain and still be in a fine relationship. whatās often missed is that billie came to delilah ON HER OWN FREE WILL to try and overthrow daud. in high chaos she even saysĀ āiām only sorry i didnāt pick a better allyā and something along the lines ofĀ āyou knew it would come to this, itās out nature.ā delilah didnāt manipulate billie into thinking overthrowing daud was a good idea. billie already wanted to, delilah pointed out that he was getting weak, billie agreed, they struck.Ā
in low chaos, billieāsĀ āi was an idiot to listen to youā probably refers to the timing of their strike, how she underestimated daud, as opposed to referring to the idea of taking daud down in general.Ā
in both chaoses, delilahās reaction to the betrayal (the violent threats) are... normal? first of all, theyāre just who she is as a person. second of all, billie just BETRAYED HER! foiled her plans! now daud is way more of a threat to her than he ever was! iād be pissed too! iād want her dead too! that is in no way indicative of how their relationship actually was.
in fact! what we DO see isnāt indicative of what their relationship was at ALL since all we see is the tail end of their interactions. so saying b/d is abusive is basically speculation and saying their relationship was canonically abusive is plain wrong.Ā

34, 50, 67, 78, 79 bc u sent me so many and thats just like Not Fair Bro
omg,,, bro,,, <3
34.Ā Has anyone ever given your character a really important gift? What was it? Do they take care of that gift today or have they since lost or broken it?
aaa⦠one of jamesā friends, echo gave him like a lil flower crown for his birthday once. he generally doesnāt celebrate it but he thought it was a really sweet gesture. he kept it for as long as he could but yāknow. Organics so it doesnt really exist anymore :ā]
50.Ā Whatās their earliest memory?
oh man. who knows. probably being really tiny and playing with his brother.
67,Ā What was the most acidic remark your characterās ever given to someone? And their reaction?
h a omg⦠see: every conversation he has with Yue ever. heās generally pretty passive butĀ āI wasnāt aware my mother had reincarnated into a snarky brat. Apologies, Iāll be on my best behavior henceforth.ā its not. Super biting since again,,, hes pretty passive/friendly. yue just. stole his glasses smh
78.Ā Are they very trusting or not trusting at all? Have they ever been betrayed or has someone they hated become one of the most reliable people they know?
eeehh⦠hes like⦠5/10 for trusting. thereās a lot he wonāt trust with people and hes generally wary of strangers if he has no other connection to them (mutual friends etc)Ā
79. Which one do they prefer; knowing when they die or how they die?
when, definitely. heās got a few ideas as to the how, but knowing when would give him a good schedule to work to. get more done. lessen the blow in some ways.
51.Ā Do they find that they care what others think of them? or do they not really mind how others view them?
oh yeah,,, i mean it depends on who it is honestly but most of the time james cares Way too much about how he comes across to others. he also considers himself subordinate to others like 99% of the time so that kind of magnifies the need to come across as competent.
60.Ā Have they ever committed a crime, or something they felt was wrong? What was it?
James has committed petty theft a handful of times but that was about... ten years ago now? maybe a little less. heās kept secrets that were... not necessarily bad things but they still weigh on his conscience a bit. there was a lot that happened during the northern campaign that he felt was wrong. to be fair he was considerably more naive at the time but he wasnāt too proud about standing idly by.
62.Ā Whatās something that really repulses them?Ā
oh man... abject violence or unnecessary suffering, honestly. seeing anyone find satisfaction in hurting someone else just puts him off so badly. seeing someone get hurt due to someone else being incompetent just makes him angry but the former really disgusts him.
