First came the smell of smoke. Second, a strange warmth. Third, the realization that she was waking up.
One young Beauregard, preparing to finish xir last year of elementary school soon, pushed herself up to her knees. Xe stretched her back, it felt like she fell. There was a stone wall next to a small hill, which luckily shielded her from the pinkish flames at the top of the hill she could now make out. Dawn was just creeping in.
It was the aftermath of the Summer Solstice, and the rampage one of the legendary Pokemon of Shinria, Hiluta.
That legend was always so stupid to xem, the Pokemon that would wickedly drag people and Pokemon into a precession of eternal slumber until only their wisps remained, and would singe the rooftops of those wise enough to stay inside. Just one little problem, why would a fairy Pokemon from a forest be malicious on purpose to people outside of it in the first place? She always loved fairy types, and with what she knew about them something about that didn't add up. Why did no one ever question it, did they just hate the thing that much?
That frustration led into the recollection of what happened before it lulled her asleep. Right. It was the typical broadcast telling citizens of Shinria how to protect themselves from the fire, not to go outside, what the song of the legendary could do to them.
In a sudden bout of frustration, and a temptation she never felt before, she ran outside to meet the real thing. The unexpected first blossoming of a rebellious tree. So few had even SEEN the damn thing, what did they know!?
She rubbed her head trying to remember the rest. Her parents ran after her, she remembered hearing faint notes of a song on a harp, and the feeling of being pushed down a hill, and her parents...
...Her parents...
She shot to her feet.
"M-mom!? DAD!?"
