What are you like when you’re by yourself?

My Bug-type gym, in defiance of Pokemon's longstanding tradition of neglecting them, is the 8th and final gym in the game. Situated in a sprawling cave complex in the side of the Lonely Mountain, this gym is absolutely designed to bring the pain and test the player's skills in dealing with an often-overlooked type, and to showcase the interesting combos of the insect world.

The final town is set next to a huge mesa in the middle of a plain called the Lonely Mountain, once said to be the home to the region's legendary trio of Bug-type Pokemon. In their absence I keep it reverently maintained, preserving centuries- if not millennia- of cave paintings and artifacts related to them. While the player is allowed to explore the outer museum portion for a modest fee, they must enter the depths of the cave to battle me. There they will face my students, each carrying a Bug-type mirroring my own and using similar tactics. Those Pokemon are:

Venomoth leads and immediately puts the lead opponent to sleep. After two or three Quiver Dances (or more if I'm feeling cocky), it Baton Passes to Volcarona, who attempts to murder your entire team single-handedly with its wide range of heavy attacks.

If it falls, I return to Venomoth, who performs the exact same setup, but this time passes to Galvantula. Galvantula sets up a Sticky Web, soaking the brunt of your now-frustrated counter attack with its Focus Band, activates Swarm, and proceeds to either crush with a twice-boosted Bug Buzz or play Pokemon Type Shell Game courtesy of Volt Switch, U-Turn, and Baton Pass along with Venomoth and Scizor.

On its own, Scizor remains a formidable opponent to take on all comers, especially using Pursuit to take out anything it forces a switch against.

Lastly, Heracross arrives, poisons itself to activate Guts, and attempts a Hail Mary rampage with its boosted Attack. Very straightforward.

She was cute!  How can I be rude with something that's in fascination with something it's never (or rarely) has seen before!  It's like the little spider who's hiding herself in the sand.  Another cutie.  And the BEAUTIFUL sapphire toe tarantulas (I think that's what they're called).

Do I want her on me or near me?  No.  Not really.  Do I want a close-up shot of her showing all the little bits and pieces?  Definitely not.  But that doesn't mean that I have to be mean.

They're all still so beautiful in their own way.
