A quiet groan curled past his lips in the face of Lindy's question. The nature of the matter did not mesh with the person Eddie was; he wasn't that same kid anymore, didn't even like listening to the song anymore for all the painful memories it brought back. If anyone other than her had asked, Eddie would have heavily considered not replying.

"Okay, I'll tell you and only you, sweetheart. But you can't repeat it to anyone else, not even Lipton. Promise?" He held out his black-painted pinky to seal the juvenile deal, smiling when she made the brief link between them. "Uhh...it came out not long before my mom died...killed herself, whatever. But she really liked it; it was one of the few things that seemed to make her happy again," he paused, the bittersweet memory pushing itself to the forefront of his mind like he knew it would. "So, when I picked up a guitar a few years later. I dunno. It just came to me." Because he'd been miserable at that time just as she had.

Beckoning Lindy close, he quietly muttered the song title Jolene to her. Then sat back in his seat, beyond embarrassed but trusting her to keep her word.
