Hot take but I think that for all of John’s connection with Wraith AND Iratus bugs in the show, they failed by keeping so much of him human. Where is that intrinsic inhumanity that has to still be living in him? Telepathic connection, maybe a connection with Teyla because of her own genetics (because they played up her being so close to a queen but never gave a fuck about having a male character with even more genetic change than her have half of her inhumanity) or being able to sense other Wraith nearby. A connection to Todd (Guide and Guide as the Wraith call them BOTH should have been a play on their connection, not their differences from each other, John’s connection to him was stronger than any other, and you can’t deny that) where they can always tell when the other is close by. John being able to tell if a Wraith is a part of Todd’s (their) Hive just by the feeling of their mind.
Where is the change in humanity that should still exist within him? Purring when a human shouldn’t be able to, harder nails, maybe his teeth a little sharper than they should be. If you really want to play it up, slitted pupils and the better vision that would come with it, elytra on his back where Iratus wings would be if he had them, maybe slitted sideways like a dragonfly would have had them.
Yall ain’t play enough, this is sci-fi, and he is ARGUABLY the most likely character to have visible and mental changes, and they DID do that, but not many of them seemed to LAST. It was like they committed a cartoon reset every single time. No his connection with Todd doesn’t matter. No him being given the Gift of Life didn’t effect anything. No his time being actually changed down to the DNA didn’t matter because oh of COURSE they were able to produce a full reset like nothing bad ever happened.
But it all happened. John is more like the Wraith than any other human and I’m tired of pretending he’s not. His name is Guide, and that applies to so many different things, up to and including Guiding the Wraith themselves into choosing to trust these humans and want to learn to eat food again. We missed so much.
Anyways. I want John holding Todd’s hand to his chest and looking up at him with heart eyes (clearly greeting him mentally as his hivemate and even his hive leader) while the Atlantis crew look on in horror like they do whenever John reveals his own inhumanity.
