I just had the pleasure of taking my baby sister @beckylynn1990 on her first extended climbing trip! I got to see her figure things out, work through fears and learn some new skills! Over Come ✨. I have to admit I am so So SO Proud of Myself! Anxiety is a real part of my life (an unfortunately large part). Ill admit there a certain cities I won’t go out of pure fear of maybe running into a little bit of my past. BUT I also want friends and most of the people I’ve meet live out that way... welp I didn’t let fear hold me back. The criteria to be a climbing guide was that you could climb. Over the years the @amga1979 grew and in the late 90’s I got my first taste of amga training as @coloradomountainschool offered free training to their staff. # If I have one regret in life at this moment...I wish I had stuck with the amga training back when I first took my Rock Guide and Alpine Guide courses. Cuz now I would have my pin and be guiding in Chamonix and Switzerland and I would have been one of the first females. Instead now at 48 I am working on it. #nevertoolate Maybe I can be the oldest woman to get her pin 😆 I wanted to share all of that because @thenorthface has partnered with the @amga1979 to offer an all woman’s Rock Guide Course. This is the first course required to become a certified rock guide. I never knew that guiding could actually be a career..but it turns out it’s a good one, you get to climb with awesome folks and you have the best office in the world. # So if you’re considering being a guide you should check out this opportunity. They are offering several partial scholarships. This is an effort to get more women into the industry.
