Nervousness coursed through his entire body.
And here he was again. Letting this little sheep lean and sleep on him, with their head resting on his shoulder.
Jake admitted, they were cute. But still, he didn't want to get attached to the sheep, because he was a wolf. And wolves and sheep are not a good combination, at least that's how he sees it.
But, still, he couldn't bring himself to try to get the little sheep away from him each time the Sheep visited him, and they spoke in a gentle and encouraging tone of voice that made him want to stay close. No matter how much he tried to scare them, The Sheep just wouldn't go away, it looked like they were determined to become his friend. He didn't like that, as all he wanted was to get away from them. And it didn't help that as time passed there was this strange feeling of him wanting the sheep around more and more, making it difficult for him to resist.
Jake sighed looking at the sheep beside him, studying its cute face. As he always did. They seemed so innocent and pure, but Jake knew better than to trust anything or anyone completely.
It was always like that, since the beginning.
Of course now, he lets the sheep come closer and talks to them, but nothing much has changed.
The sheep was starting to stir awake, Jake saw its eyes open slowly. It round eyes stared up at him, it blinked a few times before it started talking;
"Hey Jake, what you are doing?"
Jake could hear the sheep's thoughts clearly now, and it sounded like they had an idea of what he was thinking about.
"Sooo...have you thought about my proposal?"
Jake thought about it for a moment. Maybe...It would be nice if he could have someone to talk to, especially since he hadn't seen any other animals yet. He'd been avoiding them, because he was afraid they might keep asking him questions about where he came from, and why he was out here by himself.
The Sheep looked at him confused and then let out a light laugh.
"haha! It's ok jake! I'll wait until you make up your mind!"
They say with a smile on their face, lightly patting Jake on the shoulder. The sheep then gets up and stretches.
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow, so thanks for letting me take a nap on you!"
The sheep says, as they walks towards the forest. Only, to stop and then turn around again screaming at him;
"And don't forget! think about my proposal!"
Jake just nodded, looking at them in the distance.
They turn around again and run back into the trees. The proposal they talked so much about, was that they could stand by Jake's side. They once told him that, they would like to know what it was like to live away from their flock, they always liked to explore new places, but they knew the risks of doing so, so they offered Jake a proposal so they could stay by their side safely and being able to explore around by his side, while they do whatever (as long as it's not so exaggerated and it's not about eating them) that he asks for.
It's even funny to think that the first day they ran away from their flock, out of curiosity, they came across a wolf. But, instead of being scared or surprised, they were even more curious to know about him. Mainly, by one who didn't bother to eat them, but only threatened them from time to time.
"Well it looks like we got some work to do today! We need to get ready for winter, and it's already getting cold. So we should probably start gathering wood and food for the winter, so we can survive till spring!"
Jake nodded, he understood what the sheep was saying. They needed to prepare for the coming winter, and get everything ready so they could survive the harsh winters. He felt bad for them, having to go through such tough conditions, but he also felt happy for them too, that they had found each other, and were going to stick together and survive the coming winter.
Jake followed the sheep outside, and helped gather some firewood, and brought it back inside to dry. After a while they went into the forest to look for food, and soon enough they came across a deer, which they took down with ease.
Afterwards, they headed back to the cabin and cooked the meat over the fire, with Jake eating the meat and the sheep just eating some salad and corn. After that, they gathered the rest of the wood and set it aside for later.
As they were about to leave, Jake asked the sheep.
"Hey...err,what was your name again?"
The Sheep made an offended expression while looking at jake. Which just continued with the same calm expression.
"I already told you my name yesterday!..." they say, their tone of voice sounding low, only for them to perk up again and get back to talking excitedly.
"Fine! it's ok, you must have forgotten, it's ok to forget I also forget a lot of things sometimes hehe! But, well...AHEM!" they give a fake cough and go back to talking.
"Well,my name is ____!" they talk excitedly, with a cute smile on their face.
The two smiled at each other and talked some more later.
That night, Jake sat alone in the cabin, watching the fire burn brightly.
He looked at the sheep's sleeping form, lying next to him on the bed. They were curled up tightly, their legs tucked under them, their soft fluffy tail wagging randomly every now and then.
Jake couldn't help but feel drawn to them, he felt protective towards them.
They were so cute and innocent, just like a child. They didn't know what was happening around them, and Jake wished he could protect them from all the bad things that happened in this world.
Jake thinks a little about his actions next, but then, decides to put his negative thoughts aside.
Jake slowly approaches the Sheep, and with one arm pressed now into the Sheep's back, he slowly slides them close to him, pulling them close to his chest, now in a hugging form.
His tail unconsciously curls close to the sheep, wagging slightly, as Jake feels his face heat up a little.
He prays for that the sheep won't wake up and see him in the situation he's in. He doesn't want to scare them away, but he can't help it. He needs to be close to them, he wants to be near them.
Jake lays down on the bed, and cuddles the sheep, feeling their warmth against him. He closes his eyes and relaxes.
He slowly starts to drift off to sleep.
After some time, suddenly he hears a loud "wuah!", and he opens his eyes to see the sheep standing in front of him.
"What's wrong?" Jake asks, rubbing his eyes and sitting up. Getting a little worried.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you!" the sheep apologizes.
"No, it's ok, I just wasn't expecting you to wake up."
"why are you hugging me?"
Jake's face quickly turns a little red, and he pulls away faster, looking away and falling silent soon after. The Sheep get surprised by his quickness and then smile, chuckling lightly at Jake's reaction.
"Haha! Hey, if you wanted a hug, you just needed to ask!"
Jake doesn't respond, still looking away for the wall, embarrassed. Only for him to be surprised by a pair of arms wrapping around his stomach, making him jump slightly. He looks over his shoulder to notice the sheep hugging him from behind, their face pressed to his back and they were with their eyes closed having a slight relaxed and happy smile on their face, their cheeks slightly flushed.
Jake blushes a bit more, and slowly sits up. He looks back at the sheep, who was now looking up at him.
"I'm sorry for waking you up." Jake says, a hint of embarrassment in his voice.
"It's ok, it's not a problem." the sheep replies happily.
Jake then looks at the sheep and smiles.
"Thanks for the hug...i guess."
"It's nothing!" they reply happily.
Jake then takes a deep breath and stands up, stretching out.
"Ok, I think it's time to go to sleep now, we have a lot to do tomorrow, so let's get some rest."
"Yes, let's get some rest." the sheep replies.
Jake nods, going back to the bed and laying down. He then closes his eyes, trying to fall asleep as fast as possible, only for him to feel something on top of his chest. When he opens his eyes again and looks at what it is, he sees the sheep, already sleeping, with a smile on their face and with their hands clasped on his chest.
Jake sigh, and closes his eyes, feeling the sheep's warm breath on his skin.
He smiles, and wraps his arms around them, letting himself be carried away by his sleep.
