Okay, the new/old AU!

After SkyClan was banished from the Clans (I know I said this was pre-SkyClan banishment but this works out better, I think), tension between ThunderClan and ShadowClan slowly began to build. The leaders, Redstar and Dawnstar, silently regret what they were forced to do and the guilt eats them alive. Rather than acknowledge it, they took their guilt out on one another.

Despite the death of those leaders and most of their warriors, the tension between the two Clans is stronger than ever. It reaches it’s peak when ShadowClan’s decaying leader, Tanglestar, accuses ThunderClan of the murder of her mate. She declares war on them.

The first chapter picks up immediately after the death of Tanglestar. ShadowClan’s new leader needs to bide time for his Clan to heal and adjust to the change in leadership, so to due so, he sends a spy to ThunderClan: Shadepaw.

Shadepaw is looking for redemption and approval, and he is determined to secure victory for ShadowClan. He never expected to find friends in ThunderClan; namely, Palepaw the medicine cat apprentice.

Palepaw has her own problems. Her mother, Vixenstar, is plagued by vicious panic attacks and only she knows why. Palepaw knows every single secret her Clanmates are hiding, and even has the dirt on cats from other Clans. Because of her knowledge, she is unable to make friends. How can she possibly overlook her Clanmates secrets?

When Shadepaw joins ThunderClan, Palepaw thinks he’s a breath of fresh air. As a “former loner” she knows absolutely nothing about him and is free to form her own opinions. Of course, she doesn’t know he’s a spy.

It still needs a lot of reworking but I forgot how much I love the protagonists and how compelling the “villains” are. I think I’m going to sit down and outline it, and see what I end up with.

Thistlepelt is a very, uh, eccentric character. 

As he grew older his Clanmates pushed him to retire, but he refused. One evening a twoleg dog got loose and headed straight for camp; Thistlepelt managed to chase it off. 

However, his foreleg became infected after a nasty bite, and eventually it rotted away. Thistlepelt has never been right in the head since then. He brags about the time he defended ThunderClan from a “pack of vicious dogs”, but is known to stop midconversation and start barking.

ShadowClan, WindClan, and RiverClan allegiances will be up shortly!

Darkmist - lean, brown tom with dark tabby stripes, and amber eyes

Wildeyes - brown-and-ginger tom; one yellow eye and one green eye

Apprentices: Palepaw - gray-and-white she-cat with pale green eyes (medicine cat apprentice)

Featherpaw - fluffy silver she-cat with blue eyes

Badgerpaw - dark brown tom with black stripes, and yellow eyes

Hazelpaw - light brown tabby she-cat with yellow eyes

Queens: Streamripple - gray she-cat with brown paws, and blue eyes

Elders: Bristlefur - white-and-black, spiky-furred she-cat; oldest cat in ThunderClan

Tawnyheart - tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat with yellow eyes

RiverClan will play a larger part in the second half of the fic, but both Clans are pretty quiet during the first half. I’m still undecided on what I want to do with WindClan at all.
