Today I bring you... Tricks to make townies less likely to dress crazy that don't require Mods but will even help if you have a bunch of weird CC! The best part is, if you're a historical player like me, most of the normal tricks don't work for us, but these do!
(Highschool Years required) My favorite, TRENDI!😂Every day, make as many outfits as you can either from one of the clothing racks that came with HS or via your phone. Make sure all the main slots are filled with something of your choosing or the NPC my decide to experiment😬. Particularly important is the hat. If you have CC hair that doesn't have hat chops, its best to pick a hat that removes the hair entirely but if you don't want to do that, just keep in mind how the hair will look. Then, once you've made up your outfits and purchased them, you just set them for sale (selling them at a loss makes them sell faster if your more interested in getting them out there than the money). Wait around and eventually someone buy them. After each outfit is sold, you will start to notice townies walking around the world in it!
(Get Famous required) This one's a lot more involved, infact, it makes a good career/ hobby (to make it a career, I recommend downloading an "appearance styling gives money" mod, or you can just cheat yourself some money😉.) Basically, place the "All-In-One Styling Station" somewhere on your home lot and whenever someone randomly shows up on your lot, click on the chair and choose "Offer Appearance Styling". This will take you into CAS with the sim you offered the atyling to instead of your current household. What I typically do, is set myself a 15 minute timer and just go through, remove all the wackiest stuff, maybe slap a few full body outfits or those premade outfits on where I need them, and then call it good.
(City Living required) similar to the first two. If you are level 7 of the "Trendsetter" branch of the "Stylist" career you can "Create Masculine/Feminine Trend" which brings you into a version of cas similar to the Trendi shop. From here you can create the outfit (rember what I said earlier about putting something in every slot) and simms will start wearing it around town. Unfortunately if you release a new "Feminine Trend" or "Masculine Trend" you'll stop seeing the previous one for that frame. Also at level 8 of the "Trendsetter" branch of the "Stylist" career, you can do the "Offer Apprentice Styling" interaction just by clicking on another sim.
(Get to Work required) This one's weirdly specific. Just having dressed mannequins in your world doesn't affect how your sims dress, but if you take your sim, to a retail lot with mannequins and wait around for some of them to go though the buying process, you'll eventually see the sims who bought clothes, wearing the clothes they bought. Apparently the way buying outfits in GTW goes, the clothes just get added to your sims extra clothing slots? Idk🙄.
(Get Famous required) There are also "Offer to do Makeup", and "Offer to do Hair" Interactions on the styling station that are good if you just need to fix a bad hair or makeup choice on an NPC. They each cycle through three options and when you cancel the Interaction, you get the look that is currently on the sim. Great for if an otherwise regular human has decided they can have leaf hair or something, not so much for... literally anything else.
Thats all for today! Hopefully you learned something useful! (or at least new!)
