I'm watching a movie on Facebook about some people fighting. They're real people, somewhere in some real situation. The things everyone in the movie are saying resemble the rot of ignorance. Deep and penetrating and consuming levels of ignorance that I can't begin to adequately capture in words. Then the violence erupts into unwarranted chaos between two miserable creatures. I stare at my phone like I'm doing right now. I feel concern for the state of things. I know that the individual represents the world, at its at-least minimum as well as its maximum. Here you're watching your species embarrass you. Embarrass themselves. They don't realize it, though. Like an ant does not realize. We look disgusting. We look vulgar, crude, unambitious and moldy. We look festering. Like a rusty knife's wound after far too long. And what are we doing...? We roll around in it like the shit our species is allowing itself to be. The misconception that allows us to allow this, I think, stems from the notion that we're not bred to cope with new age life. What a load of garbage. Not only are we cut to cope, we're cut to improve. To succeed at great costs -- because we Can. How gruesome it is, to lose sight of what matters. The little that does.
