in Sakura’s mind everything around the two of them stops. The petals of spring has stopped in their tracks, distinguishing the current of the wind around them. She blinks slowly, anticipating for the young man before her to vanish without a word. Where was Naruto to piss her off so she knew this was real? Right. In this dream they know where near Konoha because Sasuke isn’t in Konoha, it wouldn’t feel this real if he were.
But she stopped dreaming of him telling her he loves her years ago. She never stopped loving him, but she got more realistic after he left the first time. And even more realistic after she saw how deep into the darkness he had gone. The look he had in his eyes then isn’t the look she sees in his eyes now.
Eyes blink again and her skin and nerves register the gentle brushing of wind against her exposed skin. The petals are falling again and she’s still staring at him. Still confused as ever. Her mind replays the past five minutes for her. He’s already said it … twice.
Now she feels her skin getting warm, two degrees into uncomfortable, and her heart is pounding from an emotion she can’t quite discern.
Two fingers poke at her breast bone, “Me?” she questions.
to his younger self it would’ve been an eternity watching her react to this, but he understood patience more these days. maybe he was curious to find out what she would say, it’s not like her crush on him had been a secret all these years, but his feelings in return sure had been. he had no idea to know what she would say to him returning her feelings
her completely shutting down wasn’t what he expected, but he understood it. it was entertaining to watch her face match karin’s hair, though. he wasn’t sure why she was so surprised, he made it clear he liked her on his last visit to the village, this was just him attempting to put it into words.
“ yes. you. ” it was just them here, he didn’t know who else it would be. “ haven’t you been fishing for me to say that since we were eleven? ”
