You want to see improvement? This is improvement.

This year was a big one for me, art wise.This was the year I got my first tablet, a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Yes. Using this I began to draw like you wouldn’t believe. 

January saw the first completed sketch, and I was so proud of it then. I entered it into a competition... and it came last. Looking at it now, I cringe. But everyone starts somewhere.

February saw my Magnum Opus, or my nickname for one of my favourite pieces. Even though now it’s beginning to show a hint of age, I designed every single part of that image, and its quality made me realise this was the direction to go. I have always loved details. So while it isn’t my greatest piece, it was my beginning.

March saw me trying out more of the same neon style, as well as one of my favourite tools, the Symmetry bar. Another fun one to work on.

April saw a complete remake of January’s sketch, which is why I’ve included it despite drawing many great works in this month. The improvement is vast. I entered this one in the same competition and it won.

May  came with me trying to go back to drawing dragons. I drew this great beast and decided to open up a shop. It didn’t take off at the start, but soon people started taking interest.

June was my First ever Commission made by someone other than direct family and friends, so this lady has a place in my heart.

July saw a chance to draw more work for the person who ran January’s competition. I loved working on this one, and am kind of sad this collage doesn’t pick up some of the finer details in the work.

August took two of my favourite things, detail and symmetry, and blended them together. This is one of the few images I have hanging up on my wall.

September was very quiet. I had the commission shop closed nearly the entire month. I was terribly busy, and real life issues had caught up, meaning my art was put on the backlog. I still managed to squeeze out a few commissions though.

October was my busiest month. Some of my favourite images were drawn this month, as well as most of the dragons this year, but this lovely Gijinka for Yaevinn was my favourite.

November was starting to see a slowing of commissions as the holiday times began, but one of my oldest customers returned to buy more art. While the first piece of work is not included, the new piece i did for him is by far my favourite of the two. Improvement!

And lastly, December saw only one piece of work being done that month due to christmas. A christmas present for a friend’s friend, I loved working on the two dragons. That image probably took me the longest to complete, having to spread it out over the span of a few weeks. Still love it.

And that was 2016! Expect more from me art wise, and I hope everyone enjoys the new year!

I love the characters I have made over time, and would love if I can make something with them others would love. if it go well maybe I can give it a try to small stories for my other OCs...

for real tho, finding the line between things will be a place of worry for me, like ya what is a pearlcatcher but a lizard winged with a horn and tail tuff, as long as maybe the namesake pearl isn’t a large design trait or there at all than it wouldn’t be recognizable? but a few of the genes could need omitting or altering a far bit ._.; (looks at runes on the arms and feet)

Ahh thank you! I can whip up a quick tutorial :) I use SAI but it can be used in pretty much every program that supports pressure sensitivity. However! Some programs do it better in my opinion. SAI is my personal fav.

Those are my settings for any brush to make it sharp. Min size and hard <-> soft (basically being how much pressure I gotta apply) being the most important to get that pointed end. And when I draw, I also make very quick strokes for the pointier sorts of ends. Going slow still makes em pointy (so long as you don’t press too hard) but also a lot thicker. In the end, most programs will largely rely on your own hand’s ability to maintain control. 

On the right squiggle, you can also see how pressure affects lines with texture added. Sometimes when things fade out too much, I go over it a few times to darker it up.

Somerset is a spelunker by trade and hobby. Her goal in life is to explore every cave in the world before writing books about her adventures when she retires. Due to the nature of her trade, she has picked up some skills to help her while she explores caves. She learned mining and smelting from Hephaestus, some simple yet effective healing tricks from Kitsune, archaeology from Sol, wards against dark magics and curses from Strix, and basic survival tactics and self defense from Mihaela and Razvan. Somerset spends weeks, sometimes even months, away from the lair traveling to cave sites and exploring. She prefers it this way as she is generally a loner and sticks to a small group of friends which is mainly composed of her mentors. When she is staying with the clan she can be found listening to music, reading books, writing about her travels, or hanging around the dens of her friends practicing skills, chatting, or enjoying their company in quiet.

She is the daughter of Berylwarden and Goldfleck, and I promised Shaniae that I’d keep her updated on how Somerset is enjoying her new home~ Unfortunately, it’s taken almost a year for me to find genes that I was happy with on her, but now she is the perfect Earth Representative ^^ I try to make my Elemental Representatives look like a cross between their element and Shadow since they are the bridge between the two elements in my clan.
