i know lauren herself has said shiro is gay, but she’s also stated that she wants the fans to see themselves in him. so it seems to me that her personal view is he’s homosexual, but she’s fine if the fans say otherwise.

me, i would love it if he was bi/pansexual, since i myself am pan, and bonus points if he’s polyamarous too because goddamn i have fallen for adam/shiro/matt/allura. but if others see him as straight up gay that’s cool with me!

Matt being the one who has the most issue with Adam, although he's trying to deal with it for the sake of Shiro's happiness, because he was the one who saw the most of what it did to Shiro when Adam left. But eventually Matt and Adam talk it out and Adam readily admits that he fucked up and he's so glad Shiro had Matt and Allura to make him happy. He just wanted Shiro to be happy and was scared that if Shiro pushed himself too hard, he'd only end up burning out too fast and he’d lose him even sooner. Matt points out that Shiro is stronger than Adam ever gave him credit for and Adam agreeing with that wholeheartedly. Eventually they bond over how fucking gay they both are for this gold-hearted man they're so lucky to have in their lives.

Also, I like the idea of not all the sides of the relationship being sexual? Give me pan Shiro who's happily intimate with all three of the others, and bi Matt and Allura, but gay Adam who's just not into Allura that way (although he may end up with her on a purely romantic level) and he and Matt are still sorting their shit out so for the longest time those two aren't actually into each other in any way but then an intimacy session where they're tag-teaming Shiro takes an unexpected turn when Matt decides to just fucking go for it and kisses Adam. Eventually Matt and Adam decide they just don't do it for each other that way (both of them are more into Shiro's type), but they'll do some small amounts of intimacy. And cuddling is totally fine.

well i did promise @shiroganetakashi some shallurattam headcanons, soo

shiro and allura are the ones who start out. shiro’s bi, and the closest description to general altean sexuality is pansexual, so that’s allura. they fall in love and it’s good and nice.

matt falls for shiro first, and then allura. he and shiro got close on the kerberos mission, and matt was there to make him laugh after nursing a broken heart. but matt also knew a lot had changed in the time he and shiro had been apart, hence why he was hesitant and called him “sir” and he fell for allura rather immediately, because look at her.

adam and matt had the hardest time with each other initially, and adam struggled with both matt and allura at first. he warmed up to allura more quickly though, since she had saved shiro, even if adam was insecure about her having replaced him.

matt couldn’t believe that both shiro and allura wanted to be with someone “like him,” and was hesitant about adam at first, bc he had broken shiro’s heart, but he slowly got to know how much it had broken adam’s heart too.

with a lot of communication, time, and cuddle piles, they all learned how to make it work and love each other just as much, although adam is still only sexually interested in shiro, and sees allura and matt in a more QPR light.

allura and matt don’t get bedhead and they love running their fingers through adam and shiro’s messy hair in the mornings.

each of them claim to not pick favourites, but in reality, each have a favourite mouse. 

adam surprisingly likes the taste of nunvill, so and allura will drink it together. allura and matt get expressos together, too. shiro gets black coffee, and adam gets his with just a pinch of cream.

adam, allura, and shiro all adore katie/pidge as their sibling in law.

coran bustles about planning a four-way joint wedding and cries more tears of joy than all of them combined.

their first child together is allura and shiro’s biologically, their second allura and matt’s, the kids within two years of each other. shiro fathers another child and now that they have enough money and stability, they all go through earth’s adoption agency, and each pair (allura and matt, and adam and shiro) adopt a kid. they’re a very happy affectionate family.

adam and matt spend a lot of nights cuddling when there are times shiro and allura have to go on missions in space, for diplomatic or other reasons.

shiro is perpetually upset about how badly all his cooking attempts come out, but he never stops trying to bake birthday cakes for the others every year.

sometimes adam thinks of how it was after kerberos, after shiro had left, how lonely that’d been, and looks at the three people he loves and his family, and can’t believe how lucky he is. and quite frankly, neither can they.

as the only one who didn’t really fight in the war, adam gets used to recognizing when the others are having bad days, and does his best to care for them, although it is always a team effort, when it can be.

One of the best parts of ot4 is that there’s so many different dynamics within it to explore so y’know what pal? We’re gonna do all of this (and it’s LONG)

Two people you’d never expect to be together

Matt is open and enthusiastic and openly affectionate, Adam is quiet and closed off and has a harder time connecting with people

That said, they end up bringing out the good in each other; Matt’s confidence and uplifting nature help coax Adam out of his shell, where Adam helps slow Matt down a bit and relax, and helps him focus and was actually super helpful in breaking Matt of some bad study habits he’d developed in high school

Sometimes, when Matt gets super excited about something, he’ll start rambling, and Adam always sits with rapt attention

They accidentally grab each other’s glasses all the time even though they look nothing alike

Adam has three sisters (two older, one younger) and it’s something he and Matt kinda bond over

Adam’s a pretty heavy sleeper, which is good since Matt pretty much flops over him in the night and usually wakes up like 3/4 on top of him

Matt honestly only just barely avoided getting into SO MUCH trouble at the Garrison and a good 75% of that credit is owed to Adam bailing him out/holding him back

Shiro: Matt yes but only if we can get a good alibi

I have never seen an episode of the X-Files but based on memes, Matt is the Mulder to Adam’s Scully

Adam grinds his teeth a lot, especially when he’s stressed, and when he notices, Matt will come over and ruffle his hair because it ALWAYS takes Adam by surprise, and Matt will kiss his cheek or squeeze his hand and maybe it doesn’t make the stressful situation away but it does make Adam smile and that’s important
