The serpent is not a welcome presence in the Hidden Leaf village, but after their aid in the fourth war, fire nation had turned a somewhat blind eye to past transgressions. If only because the leaders still wished to benefit from the elusive serpent. When they are permitted entry, it is strictly for assignment purposes. Something akin to community service, where the viper is to aid the Hokage when needed, when called upon.
On this rain soaked evening, the Sannin resides in a small and well guarded inn. Cleared out so only they and their parole take residence there. Located away from general public. Many Konoha shinobi were assigned a post as watchman. To ensure no one came to the serpent, but more importantly, to ensure the serpent didn’t stir trouble within their old home.
One particular shinobi on guard duty catches Orochimaru’s attention. Shikamaru. Son of Shikaku, hailing from the Nara clan. They knew the mans father. They also knew what fate that man met. But it is not prior knowledge which catches their interest, but instead the young Nara’s rather daredevil like behaviour. They have too much time on their hands, and observing people had always been something that intrigued them. Knowingly or not, Shikamaru’s behaviours became their source of current entertainment.
The Sannin had not been present when the accident took place, whether there had been an attack on the inn, or whether something had transpired within the group of Konoha nin. What they do walk in to see however, is the captain of the parole team chastising the young Nara, criticizing him for doing something ‘reckless’. Orochimaru tries to determine what that careless (or purposefully risk taking) action was, but lose their train of thought when it is clear the male needs medical attention. Something the serpent, with all their qualifications, could provide. They are alone with the younger shinobi, while they detail his injury and begin preparing to treat it, having dismissed the rest of parole after labeling the group a ‘distraction’.
Golden eyes reflect intrigue, as they request he sit down so they can address the wound, “it sounds as if you are testing your dear captains patience today,” they say, donning medical gloves after drawing their hair away from their eyes, “are you always this clumsy?”
